9 vs 45...thoughts

Ahh, I forgot I was posting on Calguns.net where all life and death encounters happen at 7 yds (21') and the attacker never moves while you are executing a perfect isosceles stance and slow firing rounds into his / her center of mass.

There could never be a situation where a knife wielding attacker is 7 - 10 ft away, charging you while you are clumsily, from lack of training or simple fear, fumbling for your pistol. Nah, couldn't happen.

In fact I can't imagine a single scenario where you couldn't get off more than one shot at a charging attacker. Nope. Not one.

Thanks. Your post has inspired me to rethink my training exercises, as the scenarios I train for could never happen. Hence, there could never be a scenario where a bigger wound channel could make a difference in a life or death situation. Nope. Never.

P.S. I'm not meaning to single you out from the helpful sods that posted before you. You just provided more substance. Thanks for making me think about this.

In the girls forum , a lot of folks claiming the 22lr is sufficient , so I'm going to have to say if that's true than the 9mm is surly inhumane overkill..........

My question is, "why do you have to choose?" You can own both. So own both. Shoot/carry whichever one you feel like that day. Go ahead. The other one won't get jealous. Guns are cool like that. Women? Not so much.

That's the route I took long ago. G19 and G36, both on the license and I choose according to situation/clothing, etc.

Excellent choices

G29 and G36 are my two listed weapons. Been pondering making a G26 my 3rd one. Then I've got the holy trifecta of 9mm, .45, and 10mm to choose from every morning

Side note - You really just can't beat these mini-glocks when it comes to CCW. Small, simple, reliable, lightweight, powerful, and disposable... hard to find anything else that has all 6 of those qualities.

The round limit doesn't bother me with respect to carry pieces. My S&W Airweight is only 5 round capacity, very common carry gun along with the Ruger LCR.

My G36 is a 6+1, fine with me. The slim package is worth it. For carry I would prefer a single stack 9mm for compactness but I'm not whining about my G19, one of the finest handguns on planet earth.

Funny, my wife got a G19 first. We were shopping for a 9mm carry piece for her and she picked up the Glock and loved it, fit her perfectly. At the time I thought Glocks were about as attractive as a lump of coal that had been laying along the railroad tracks for a few years. Gack. I had a Taurus 92 which I thought was a real 9mm.

Long story short, in about a month the Taurus was for sale on consignment with the G19 replacing it. Never looked back.

I bought my wife a 642 Airweight for a carry revolver. It is absolutely her favorite gun, for fun and CCW. I went shopping for one after shooting hers and got a 442. Funny how that goes.
