Glock 17 upgrades?

On my 17, I replaced the sights with Dawson fiber optic front, plain black adjustable rears. Installed a G34 extended mag release, extended slide release, glock minus connector, grip tape, a heavier trigger return spring, and a flush grip plug. This guns only purpose is uspsa production class shooting. If it were for HD or carry I would have only changed the sights and left the rest alone. Good luck have fun!

I got new sights and the GM trigger kit from Taran Tactical. Both are quality parts. I've got about 1000 rounds through it and no light strikes. I also read where someone asked Taran what he did to make a Glock shoot accurately. His response was simple. He just sent the factory barrel out and had it coated or treated. Just the little amount of extra finish was good enough to "tighten" things up a tad without losing reliability.

Installed Sevigny competition sights on mine yesterday. Pain in the butt without proper tools and no vise. Installed the front sight with blue 245 thread locker need to get the tool to put the screw in. The rear sight had to be shaved down it would only go on 1/4 of the way at first. That set screw is tiny what size is that? Took me 3 tries to get the fiber optic how I wanted it. Ordered more fiber rod for future use.

Pretty much everyone agrees that new sights are almost a must. The Glock factory sights are basically just place-holders. I like that Glock didn't try to put high quality sights on them. They'd have to raise the price and still only a small percentage of people would like Glock's choice of sights.

Just like holsters, there is a wide range of personal preferences. Problem is that compared to holsters, sights are extremely expensive to buy and try several different models. And if your gun has to serve multiple purposes .. HD, range plinking, competition, bullseye practice etc they finding do-all sights get even more difficult.

As far as triggers, so far, with all my Glocks the only trigger work I did was firing a few thousand rounds and the results have been good. But I just bought a G17 with the intention of playing with different trigger setups, parts, pieces and combinations just as a learning experience.

I am happy to say that I am well on my way to messing with Glock perfection on my G19. Zev trigger, 10-8 sights, stainless guide rod, extended slide release and 10-8 base plates. Next, the slide is going to Hammer Gunworx for some unnecessary forward cocking serrations and a gimicky coating...

It's a Glock, mess with it. Have fun.

I bought a used Glock 34 with a Zev Fulcrum trigger installed, but experienced light primer strikes due to the light firing pin spring. I replaced it with a stock spring, and it worked fine, but put the stock trigger back in.

Recently, I have been contemplating getting a Skimmer trigger for one of my Glocks. It supposedly is more of a "duty" trigger. The reason I would like to get it is because I have an Apex Flat-Faced Forward Set Trigger installed on an M&P, and I love it.

Got a 30sf with the intention of tinkering as well. Have plenty of things I'd like to do like undercutting the trigger guard, finding a grip force adaptor to fit, and putting a skimmer or agency arms trigger in there. The stock trigger is mushy and crunchy and has to be breaking around 7 pounds. Had the ffl put on trijicon HD sights before it left the shop

Leaning towards the agency as well. Want a flat trigger where the safety bar rests flush into the trigger when the pull is completed at the rear. Only other ones doing that are oc custom and Salient and both have adjustable screws that I wouldn't trust on a carry gun nor the legal aspects of adjustability.

I made my Zev Tech do just that. It took about 2 minutes because I went slow. Surely, that's not the only reason. What do you know about their connector and trigger bar work?

I've had my G17 for about 6 months and haven't changed a thing on it. I take it to the range, line up the crappy sights, squeeze the trigger and the round hits the 10 ring. I'm good to go...I feel I don't need to change a thing on it.

Im a big fan of a larger take down lever and slide release, but not much else on a glock. I have owned several through the years, and my G17 gets out to the range a couple times a month now.

Get training, shoot a ton, and when you want a fancy gun, just get something that starts fancier than the Glock.
