Glock 17 upgrades?

Hi guys, wanted to start this thread to get opinion on glock 17 upgrades.
First one I'm looking at is a trigger kit, opinions on who manufacturers the best upgrade with out taking away too much reliability? The second was sending my barrel in to get the titanium nitride treatment. Once again worth it? Benefits? I mainly use the g17 as home defense and trunk gun for the time being. Any input is appreciated.

In all honesty, there really is no need to do anything to the gun as it comes out of the box. It is a reliable combat piece designed from the ground up to take abuse and keep on ticking, with barest minimum in terms of maintenance. And I am saying this based on the two Glocks I used to own (a Glock 17 and a newer Glock 21).

You might want to have a " better " sight, but that is a personal preference. The money will be better spent if you buy extra magazines and plenty of ammo for practise.

if it helps, my glock upgrades went like this:

bought my glock 34 in 2007 and left it stock until 2014, only shot a steel torso target at 50m with it, so i had zero idea how accurate i was beyond hitting a man size target.

last year i decided i wanted to give IDPA a try, so i started drooling over all the shiny crap i could drop into my glock to make it perfect-er. but i fought the urge to waste money on upgrades, and instead dropped $300 on a 2 day course with FTA in corona. had a great experience, learned how to actually run my glock away from the shooting bench. after running 600 rounds through my glock in 48 hours, i had a MUCH better idea what worked and what didn't.

the stock sights were flimsy and hard to acquire, so i swapped them for Dawson precision https://dawsonprecision.com/dawson-p...r-black-front/

the stock trigger was contributing to my occasional low left fliers, so after sizing up the options i got a drop in kit from DK triggers

it took my ~7lb stock trigger down to a reliable 3lb break AND it will ignite anything i feed it (wolf steel case, perfecta, brass max, WWB...)

finally i decided to work on the grip. used the hogue sleeve for several years before moved on to a rubberized talon grip wrap. some people like the skateboard tape version, it comes down to personal preference really.

I can't stress enough how eye opening taking a class was, it puts you and your gun through a stress test and you see so much more clearly what is working and what is not. Before the class i thought i too needed a barrel to make my gun more accurate, but by adjusting my grip and trigger control it became obvious most of my accuracy issues were software not hardware related. performing dozens of presentations from the holster made me keenly aware of how hard it was to acquire a good sight picture in a hurry. I also discovered my hogue sleeve liked to slide around when i was doing multiple draws, leading me to adopt the decal kit that stays put so my grip position stays consistent.

For me plastic sights need to go if its a home defense pistol, that and if you end up with the serrated trigger and its cutting your trigger finger pad open, its no good if you aren't gonna want to practice with the pistol hence why I switched it out after its first trip to the range.
