Glock 17 upgrades?

Lots of ammo and trigger time is the best investment in the G17. Though night sites and trigger polishing are reasonable 'upgrades'

For my new G17, I slightly sanded both sides of the extractor. If that doesn't keep the brass outta my face, I also purchased a gen 4 ejector & a non-lci spring load baring. Haven't got a chance to get to the range yet, but plan to implement one at a time to either find the fix or go Apex extractor, contacting Glock CS was a complete waste of time......

FO sights and ammo is all you need. If you must lighten the trigger, plop in the reduced power firing pin block spring and perhaps a polished factory firing pin block if you're feeling gucci. You can play with connectors, but there's always a compromise there (usually mush/reset). Same with trigger spring. It works better on some guns than others (tolerance stacking).

I reject the contention that buying a fancy trigger will make you a better shooter than an equal amount of money spent on ammo or training. Unless you have like 30k rounds through glocks and really think it will somehow take you to the next level somehow. (I only make that concession because if you have that many through the pipe you are probably qualified to make that judgement for yourself)

Well JMHO, but it has not changed since this thread started five months ago. Put rounds down range before you do anything to your G17

Sights first, then either a trigger job or one of the many great trigger kits. I like the zev fulcrum trigger.

Sometimes you don't know when the thread started but fresh activity bumps it and someone doesn't read all 20 pages that came before. Sometimes since this is a forum people still post because it isn't just about the OP but people with similar questions, otherwise you could just PM the OP and say, "get a minus connector and steel sights" or whatever.

My suggested upgrade for your G17 in order...

Sights (depends what your going to use it for; i.e. T-HD's, 10-8's, Heine, etc...)
Magazines (you can never get too much)
Ammo (experience which ammo is more consistent for you if you don't reload)

I am personally a huge fan of Hogue grips. I just put one on my new Glock 17 and my groups shrank like you wouldn't believe. Plus the great thing about them is they're temporary and cheap so if you don't like it you haven't done anything you'll regret.

Glocks go bad when you add too much crap to them. I did the extended take down lever, and extended slide release lever. Then I did a tungsten guide rod to give it a little more heft up front, but kept a stock weight spring. Other than that, maybe a magwell and sights? It's a glock- when you start messing w the internals, you necessarily take away from the "ultra-reliable" aspect of the gun.

Keep it oiled and send lead through the barrel at high velocities, and you'll be good.

Adding crap is bad. I agree. Why defecate on your gun. Toilets are better for that.

Repairing and making better will increase reliability, not deter from it.

My glocks are stock. The only thing I would upgrade is maybe the sights. Spend the extra cash on a few cases of ammo and some extra mags instead.
