    Glock 17 upgrades?

Hi guys, wanted to start this thread to get opinion on glock 17 upgrades.
First one I'm looking at is a trigger kit, opinions on who manufacturers the best upgrade with out taking away too much reliability? The second was sending my barrel in to get the titanium nitride treatment. Once again worth it? Benefits? I mainly use the g17 as home defense and trunk gun for the time being. Any input is appreciated.

I can't tell you which company to go with in terms of custom triggers, but I can tell you which company to stay away from: OC CUSTOM TRIGGERS. After such a horrible experience I wouldn't put a custom trigger in my Glock, heck I wouldn't even do a 25 cent trigger job.

First thing to replace would be the plastic sights. Then do a .25 cent trigger job. It's a Glock so you're pretty much done.

If you really want a new trigger, check out the Agency Arms trigger kit. It'll get you close to a 1911 trigger feel. I said close because nothing beats a quality 1911 trigger.

As for TiN, if you like gold then go for it but it won't make a difference other than color.

If you can get an NFA tax stamp, and CADOJ Dangerous Weapons Permit, then you could get a G18 shoulder stock.

Add Vickers extended slide stop and mag release then you're done.

Sell it and buy a P320/VP9/PPQ, THEN you are done.

My G17c has just about everything you can do to it sans color a sight change. The biggest improvement was a metal recoil rod.
Sure, it has a Zev-tec trigger, Lone wolf skeletonized striker, Lone wolf striker spring retainer (like I'm ever going to come out of the sea and fire my glock. Ha ha), complete set of springs, 3.5 connector, extended slide release and probably things I don't even remember.
So, what is it that you want out of your gun? That will determine what you need to do with it.
Oh and BTW, HopetonBrown is 100% right. Boring as hell, but right.

Yeah then the tin barrel is out of the picture. I want realistic upgrades that are going to help not hinder not harm my account. The sights I'm already working in doing. I have not taken a pistol course, but at this point I have ran 1000 rounds through the gun to get a better feel on it. My complaints where sights, trigger and mag release. But if course that one is easily remedied.

Just sent my frame to Zevtech, they have a pretty legit list of options to do to a Glock 17. I am having Fulcrum trigger, silicone carbide, fingers removed, slim magwell and double undercut trigger guard. Going to buy a complete slide in another 5-6 months when they get everything.

Take a look at their website if you want to go full retard.

No training. In the future I am of course willing to look at this as an option.

Kinda the reason I'm here asking.

Black Center Tactical offers pistol classes in Corona; I've taken several of their classes and plan to take several more. I learn a lot, feel safe, have fun, and they have reasonable prices and round counts (1 day class, $120 or so, and 200 rounds).

I think training is the best place to spend money, followed by sights. You will probably need a holster, mag pouch, good belt, and at least three mags total for a class. You can get by with the basic glock slide holster on a sturdy belt and some cheap plastic mag pouches to get started - as you learn what works for you and what does not you will have a better idea of what to get.

If you want to get fancier off the bat, an OWB Kydex belt holster with no cant is what I would get for classes. Black Center Tactical actually makes some great ones, but there are a ton of options out there. Kydex mag pouches work great too, two singles rather than a double will give more flexibility. Lots of belt options; look for one that has plastic sewn in to stiffen it up and help distribute the weight of the gun and ammo instead of sagging.

Regarding sights, there are a lot of different options out there and you should figure out what works well for you. That said, plain black serrated rear sights with a big dot or fiber optic front sight, or night sights get recommended frequently.

Edit: ITTS is also an excellent choice.
