If you do get a denial then you will be ready. On a positive note he didn't tell you he was going to deny your application. I have heard stories where he calls the applicant in to meet with them in person and denied them on the spot.
Approved last week and completed my training class this week. Hoping to pick up my CCW first thing on Monday morning. Looks like I am not the only one to be called in for a personal meeting with Sheriff Moore. When I went in there were a few other applicants being interviewed re CCWs. I am surprised he approved the app but like you said he could've just sent a denial letter.

        Congrats!

Be sure to have a gun & rig that you'll be able to EDC. If you've got my luck, the one time you don't carry will be the one time you'll wish you had carried.

From now on, whenever some jerk cuts you off in traffic, you'll be asking yourself: "Is this really worth getting into a shootout over?" and you'll see that you become more tolerant of other people's mistakes and foolishness.

You better check on the hours that permits are issued. I was told Tuesdays and Wednesdays 8:30-3:30. And Monday is a holiday. It would suck to make the trip for nothing.

          And congrats!

What day did you have your meeting with sheriff Moore?

I miss read the question of past drug use I saw addicted and didn't see the or ever used. I answered no. It was 14 years ago and it showed up in a background check for when I applied for CHP.

Just completed my 16 hour training and qualifying course today at CA Security Training. Don't let the name fool you. This was a TOP NOTCH facility and high quality level of training for anyone looking to carry concealed. I was very impressed with everybody I dealt with there AND my instructor was phenomenal! His partner at the range today was just as impressive and knowledgable. I learned a lot and got some great pointers on the range today as well. If all that is not good enough, they also have very little backlog for classes and were the least expensive course that I could find.

About as bright as a 1/2 watt light bulb on a dimmer!!!

I went through there aswell Ian talked about changing his qualification to disqualified if any rounds land outside the black which I think is fair. That was back in october I belive when I qualed with one gun to replace one from when I initially took it

50 rounds ranging from 3 yards to 15 yards. Standing kneeling one handed both strong and weak handed. All timed. It sounds difficult but I really is a lot of time. At 15 yards you get 30 secounds for 8 rounds. It when your done and there is 10 secounds left you don't realize how long 30 secounds really is

At this time, they didnt consider anything off the black to be a disqualifier. 15 yards is a bit of a stretch in my mind for personal protection, but I understand why they test out that far. Reality is, if you hit the 8 ring or better on a B-27 target with all your other shots at the closer firing lines, then you only need to make 2 of the 6 that you fire from the 15 to qualify. Regardless, they will help and offer guidance to help you through if you are not a jerk and understand that they are just trying to help make you a better shooter.

The first time I went one person failed and they gave some pointers and let him try again and he passed the second time

For peeps asking about Manteca: the city requires an additional 4 hour course of instruction done by the city, with an additional shooting qualification done at the Ripon PD range. The additional course is held 2 times per year, and is required to maintain your permit, every year, I think its $35.

That sounds confusing in my head: 16 hour course (whatever that costs based on location) + 4 Hour Manteca PD qualification course for $35 every year.

SJCSO CCW is valid for 2 years after completion of the 16hour course, and then 4 hour renewal every 2 years.

They might have plans to change that, but I know they are doing a 4 hour class at the end of this month.
