I am wondering if the sherif took time off to campaign and is backed up, Idaho I'm just letting my mind wonder. I did my class over the weekend even though I'm not approved it was a lot of fun with some great knowledge to be learned, also if I waited it would haven been a few months till I could go.

You shoot 36 rounds per gun. 12 at 15 yards, 12 at 7 yards and 12 at 3 yards. At each distance you have to draw, shoot six to slide lock, then mag change and shoot another six. At 15 yards you must shoot the 12 rounds in 45 seconds, at 7 yards you have 30 seconds and at 3 yards you have 15 seconds. You must get 31/36 in the main large torso section of the target to pass and not fly any completely off the target.

I went through california security training academy off of freeport in sacramento. They are 115 for the class and one gun and then for each additional so 135 to qualify with three.
The course of fire is 50 rounds.
All stages are unsupported
Stage one. 15 yards 6 rounds 30 seconds two handed standing
Stage two. 7 yards 14 rounds 45 seconds two handed (6 rounds standing, drop to kneeling reload then 8 more rounds.
Stage three. 7 yards 12 rounds 25 seconds standing one handed (6 rounds strong hand reload 6 rounds weak hand) this posed a problem with my 1911 in my left hand the recoil left handed bumped the safety on after every shot.
Stage four. 7 yards 6 rounds in 10 seconds two handed standing
Stage five. 5 yards 6 rounds two handed grip standing (3 rounds in 4 seconds done twice)
Stage six. 3 yards 6 rounds two handed standing (2 rounds in 3 seconds done three times)
Stages start from the holster use a b27 target must have 40 rounds within the 8 ring.
I would defiantly recommend the class great info delivered in a way they kept everyone in the classes attention. The guy is an Australian born who legally immigrated so he warned use he used a lot of profanity.

Looks like 6/9 was the last person that posted they got the approval call.
Keep in mind that the majority of people are not coming on to this thread to announce their approval.
I wonder if the people who are getting quicker approvals are squeaky clean with not even a traffic citation and those who might have something on their record are experiencing a bit of a delay getting cleared. Only a guess and I could be way off...
That's encouraging to hear.Comment

Same thing Torquen,
Seems to be the case with anyone that didn't pay to be finger printed.
You can call the DOJ and get status on background, but you need to have an ATI number which you didn't get because there were no finger prints done. At least in my case.
Isn't the sheriff required to issue / deny in 90 days or less.
I do not see why a DOJ report is required in the first place. You can search data base for records. You can do it in a SO / PD veh.
The last time I applied with Manteca PD, they already had all my background and the background of people with names close to mine when I interviewed with their Captain, prior to the Chief denying me. ( No Good Cause ) and that was with no Live Scan.
I've purchased a 10/22 and a pistol in the last 30 days... If I can buy them, whats the hold up in getting CCW to carry.Northern California Practical Precision Rifle ClubComment

That seems kind of weird. My investigator said we should hear something a little faster since we were already on record.
My wife went in the week after me and she hasn't heard anything yet either.
We did our training a couple of weeks ago together. We both learned a lot and really enjoyed the course. Just waiting for the call...If it ain't broke, keep fixin' it 'til it is...Comment
