    Here's another data point:

11/9/15 - Submitted application to San Joaquin County Sheriff.
9/29/16 - Received follow-up phone call from investigator. Took a bit of a chance by scheduling and completing the training class in advance of approval.
10/26/16 - Received email notice of approval by Sheriff
11/1/16 - Picked up permit. Would have gotten it sooner, but email said I could only pick up on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Can anyone give some feedback on the questions I have above?

Got the call from the investigator on 9/27/16.
Asked me a few questions about things on my record
I asked if it should be an issue, he said no it shouldn't be! (Is this what they say just to keep you wondering? )
Said he needed some paperwork from my job... emailed copies of them.
Said my application is getting sent to the Sheriff's desk for review! Will know in 2-3 weeks if he denies or approves
Hopefully will hear something back this week! Maybe Wednesday, but after seeing some guys went over the year wait I can only be hopeful
If I was to get denied, wouldn't I have already been denied when things come up on livescan, and not a year later? Or do they wait until the final process of taking it to the Sheriff for him to make the decision? And do they send a letter or call you if you get denied? Do they give a reason for a denial?
I believe they send a letter if there is a denial with a simple reason, no explanation.

Not sure where the bottleneck is that is causing such long wait times; it could just be that he sets only a hour a day or something to review CCW apps, who knows. My understanding is that it is the Sheriff who makes the final decision and it seems he personally signs the licenses himself.

I want to believe that he/they don't just string people along for a whole year just to say no.

So if they were to deny, would they deny way before the application goes to his desk? That is the question. I'm not finding this answer anywhere in the recent posts of this thread! I emailed the investigator this morning and he replied, my application has been sent to the Sheriff, no word yet. Give it a few more weeks!
So if anyone that has waited the year long agony, but ended up getting denied please do tell!
This suspense is driving me crazy, cause I can see the little light at the end but it's the size of a .22....lol

          Thanks T-REX1911

I don't really know honestly; but I would really think that he (Sheriff Moore) would be the final word.

My assumption is that the background investigators just gather the pertinent information and then forward it to the Sheriff and he decides.

I messaged a member that posted.... seemed like he applied but got denied a month before his application anniversary date... so it seems like all I can do is wait to see if I get a call to pick up, an appointment to meet with Sheriff Moore ,or a denial letter in the mail!
Btw. .. the poster I messaged has ccw's for 2 different states and still got denied!

Sounds good! Hopefully you get the email/phone call saying you have been approved!

Took my class yesterday. I have to wait until next Wednesday to get my permit. Have to work all day Tuesday.

You most likely would have already know if you got denied. You may or may not get a call for an interview. If they asked for info, then most likely you will have to interview with the sheriff. He was busy when I got the call about my background coming back. It took almost another month before I got the call about a meeting with the sheriff, which was 3 weeks out. I heard of some getting approved without an interview, but I don't know if that has changed. I don't think he has time to interview every applicant.

11/03/16 - First phone interview. Interviewer needs letter from workplace and updated info on new gun. I'll keep you guys posted on the outcome.

                        I had my app/interview/livescan 1/4/2016 and I haven't got "the call" yet.
I guess they're not going in order.

Hey guys... Long time lurker here... Had a question about the application. Do you need to disclose information from an expungement or arrests without convictions?

I would. I know of someone who was arrested 20 years ago when he was 18 and as I understand it never charged. He left it off and it came up in his background check. They said it would not have been a problem if he had disclosed it but that he was hiding it and therefore lacked GMC.

San Joaquin - *** TIME TO APPLY!!! ***

So I guess the answer would be yes in my case. Picked up as a teen for having a bottle of vodka. They made my cousin and myself attend a "Saturday school" type class thing. Also got pulled over driving my Brothers car and he had stolen property in it. Was arrested and released the next morning because it was not my vehicle.

Disclose everything. Even if you are not convicted your arrest is still on your record.
