where is a good class in the stockton galt lodi area , and what does a 16hr class cost now-a-days ?

is it best to do a class before or wait till approved ?

They train out of Sac Valley in Ione.
Book now if it interests you, classes fill quick.

Minimal seat time, majority on the line firing your weapon.
But, you'll need ammo.
You can go through 400-700 rounds with them for a 16hr class.

Very well worth it to work on muscle memory, and manipulations of your weapon if you are at all green.

Well that news does make me a little nervous. I submitted for my renewal 1/15 but still waiting for it to be assigned to processor. For good cause statement I put self defense.

Applied for renewal on 1/15, got the call today 3/5 to go and take my 4hr class that I am approved. Good cause statement was "self defense" I know there was some concern about that from some.

Good Cause

I recall when I first applied about 4 years ago that the instructions said that "personal protection" is sufficient good cause. I actually found it but because their website does not use individual linked pages I can't put a link to it.

You can go to sjsheriff.org look for the Concealed Weapon Permits button on the left, then the "Requirements" button on the top of the page. Good Cause is addressed halfway down. "Personal protection or self defense is sufficient to establish good cause". <--- So just keep it simple, 'Personal Protection'.

I am just guessing here that if you elaborate further on good cause, it may require them to follow up on your statement. Example: "I handle large sums of money, jewelry ETC" might require the background investigator to go further into why you have large sums of money.

First denial I've seen that's due to "reasoning/good cause" ..

Totally interested to find out what you put down

Same here except I think my two phrases are reversed and I think I am on number four. Maybe it is five but everything runs together now so I could not be sure. I am really curious what he put. I do know someone that was denied by Steve Moore after he was giving them out for lack of good cause because he put some elaborate "good cause" statement. When he reapplied with self defense he got approved.
