All of the my Livescan information was completed within 24 hours and the hard copies received in less than 2 months. Had there been a red flag, human involvement could have stretched that out for many more months. Luckily not the case for me. Now the file waits for investigator to work the file for background etc. Probably have 5 months or more...Comment

Did u have any other prior phone calls about your ccw? Mine was May 28th too and got a phone call Friday to come see the sherif. Wondering if that means I'm approved. Since it's my first phone call sincePicked up today, no restrictions.
As suspected, the pick up took a little longer than others had mentioned per my own case...they forgot to take my picture during my initial interview back in May. Once they figured out how to get the picture printed, it was sign, thumbprint, laminate....boom: CCW holder. Even with the picture delay, I was in-and-out of there in about 25 minutes.
During this time, 4 others came in to pick up, 1 was renewing, and there were about 3 phone calls which sounded like appointments being made. Again, this is my interpretation, but based on the phone conversation the young gentleman was having, it sounds like they were scheduling middle ~feb. appointments.
Good luck to everyone, hold the course; it was an 8 mo. wait for me but worth it in the end. Stay safe.Comment

My first contact after my initial May 28th appt. was via a phone call ~2nd week of January from an investigator asking for a copy of my employers handbook; specifically their policy on firearms in the workplace. About 1.5 weeks later, I received a second phone call (from a different investigator) that I had been fully approved, needed to take my CCW training course, and then I could come and pick it up.Comment

Thanks for the reply back! Good to know. I have an apt tomorrow this would be my first contact from them. Who knows how it will go. What class are you going to take?Comment

I already took my ccw course and secured my permit. I signed up with Valley Defense Consulting out of Modesto. You will not be disappointed with their training--great group of people.Comment

Yeah!! Got the call for my husband and I yesterday afternoon that we need to bring our certificates in to pickup our CCWs.
We both interviewed 5/30 so 36 and a 1/2 weeks later we are approved. They said they only do pickups Tuesday and Wednesdays between 8 and 3:30pm.
Hope to get over there today to get them.
Hopefully our certificates from last summer will not be a problem. Never anticipated it would be so long until we heard from them. Will update after we get them.

Something else to consider as a SJC applicant, dealing specifically with the SJSO: They require the ORIGINAL certificate of completion from your CCW training course to be handed over when you go to pick up. If you intend to use the certificate as a means of satisfying additional LTC opportunities (e.g. AZ, UT...), it would be wise to grab a couple photocopies of the certificate. SJSO did provide one copy for me. Just food for thought.Comment
