Happy Birthday to me. 12:33pm call, officially approved.

I have my CCW training scheduled for next week (Valley Defense). As previously mentioned in this thread, the detective said permit pickups are only done Tuesdays & Wednesdays. Better believe I will be there bright and early next Tuesday!

As a follow up:
- Interview 05/28 @ 9:45am
- First contact via phone call: 01/14 @ 10:00am. S.O. requested copy of my employers policy on firearms in the workplace. At the end of the brief conversation, detective stated I would have a final decision via phone call by the following week.

- 01/26: Approved 12:33pm, pending completion of CCW training.

Hold the course, the wait was definitely worth it.

I'm envious... I interviewed in October, and at this pace, I may be looking at June to hear word But as long as I see the Sheriff is working on it... I will wait patiently. Also, his staff has been really courteous and professional. It's a 180 degree turnaround from what we had just a couple of years ago.

I agree with you that it is 180 degree turnaround in terms of issuing, but the staff was very courteous and professional to me a few years ago. I do not know if that changed as the process went on though. I was the second CalGunner to apply during the initial push back in 2010/2011.

How long are the training certs "good" for ?

Just finished my 16 hr training this weekend (my application interview was Dec 1st)

I know they recommend waiting until AFTER you are officially approved, but I wanted to get it out of the way, now I'm wondering if I should have waited a few more months.

Just called to check on the status for the first time since I applied on July 21st. Gal on the phone said they are working on apps from May 20th and to call back in a few months if I haven't heard anything.
