I?m reaching out to attorneys because malware aside, this is unconstitutional and simply unacceptable. Perhaps one of the 2A groups might be able to lend a hand with litigation.

I think you are spinning your wheels. How has hiring attorneys helped folks in other counties where it is impossible to get a CCW? SBSD has been one of the most pro CCW departments in the state. There has been a glitch, and yes it seems that there is no push to get everything back up and running. I think the whole story has not come out yet. I am wondering just how much of our personal information has been compromised by the hack?

If you park across the street from the track, then walk towards the main training center office. Walk up the ramp to the East of the building and you will see the sign on the bungalow straight back where the stairs/ramp is on that side of the building.

I was hoping that the I.T. Restoration would be quicker once they paid the ransom.

They are not addressing the issue at all. They are not informing CCW holders about delays. They are just taking renewal apps not giving any warnings.
How are they going to deal with expired permits down the road when the DOJ starts canceling them.

Wow. What a difference a couple of months make. In March, I dropped my renewal off on a Friday and had a new card within a week.

Patience folks. And be nice here. The ladies and deputies in the CC unit are no doubt doing all they can do.

Remember, thank your state legislature for 2 year renewals. Five year renewals would end the glut....but then the glut is what the legislature wanted.

In March there had not been a computer hack.

Patience? They in fact are not doing anything.
              Nothing is being processed.
              No answers are being given.
No one is being informed when they drop off paperwork.

The world doesn't move at the speed of instant messaging. Be an adult and have patience. You claim its a "fact" that they aren't doing anything. That's not a fact. That's your opinion.

They are working hard to get the system back up and running. They are not going to soothe hurt feeling or try and calm nerves. That's not their job. They have been solidly pro CCW since the late 90's. That hasn't changed. They will fix this.

Put on your big boy pants and wait. Don't email or call them asking for updates. Just wait. Renewal and first timer packets are a substantial amount of paperwork. It's not like they are going to lose them. They will process everything as technology and resources permit.

                Just wait.

?Just wait??! Wait to exercise our rights? That?s the most ridiculous thing I?ve heard.

They?ve taken the responsibility to handle the CCW process and due to their negligence they are unable to do so. Where is business continuity? If they can?t process, there needs to be an alternate process. CA penal code even states that police departments can do this.

To be clear, I don?t believe the frustration is with the front line folks like office admins and sheriffs in particular. Rather with the organization and its leadership. There?s another way, they just don?t want to do it or have anyone believe it?s possible because it?s more work for them. It?s simply unacceptable.

I've posted several places- if it was a problem with payroll, retirement or raises; that crapola would be fixed before a weekend went by.

Just to be clear thus LADY does not wear big boy pants.
Are you aware that there is a issue with time here?
After 6 months DOJ cancels permits.
Once your permit has expired, you have six months to renew before the DOJ cancels your permit. Once that six months has passed, you will no longer be able to renew and must start the CCW process over from the very beginning as if you never had a permit.

Yes, I'm aware of the six month issue. Somehow, I imagine the SO's office is too. They will process them in the order received and make every effort to avoid anyone being cancelled.

I know it's not easy. I have friends and family tied up in this as well. SBCSO, unlike many other SO's is very CCW friendly, so they are diligently working the issue.

Can't say I'd have the same confidence if we were talking the LA or San Fran Sheriff.

The biggest problem is, there’s no info being provided by SBCSO. If there’s a plan or they have answers for the questions regarding the 6 month deadline, it could easily help people stop worrying. I feel like there is no transparency at all. Also, what info was compromised? I know I’m curious as to what of my info was hacked. Bad enough we got DOJd no long ago.

                            New Applications

Sent an email 2 to the County weeks ago regarding the new application link not working. Received no reply.

Today I called them. They lady that answered stated their system is still down and that it will likely take 2-3 months for them to begin accepting new applications.

                              EXACTLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If they would just be up front and tell people what is going on and at least we would know. Not one word out of them when I and others turned in our renewals!!!!

Couldn't agree more. I have a interview set for mid June and can't get confirmation if it's still a go. The Victorville location is about 2 hours roundtrip for me and unfortunately that's where my appt is.

Has anyone gone to a previously scheduled CCW interview since the ransomware attack in April?
