It was an honor to attend the last Apple Valley class with Capt. Marhoefer. Got to sit by and briefly meet fellow Calgunner jmysk as well.

Qualifying is a snap. There was a little snafu with a stiff safety on my 1911, but we worked through it. There were a couple folks that struggled a bit, but they got them through it.
ACfixer is was good to meet you as well. It was a great class lots of info you need if you dont know most of it already.

        Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

Hey 9mm, congrats! Our time lines are just about the same. What is your range date? Mine is 3/18/17.

            LOL...

But I perhaps could have posted that.

They were still running 90 days when I interviewed (prior to the SB terrorist attack) and people were still calling at 90 days to find out their status and not being told "don't call us, we'll call you

I called on Day-93, which was just after Veteran's Day and rolling up on the TG holiday week, and was told that I had cleared background and my app was being circulated among the Captains that needed to sign off and I would be getting a call in "a week or so, probably right after Thanksgiving".
Thanksgiving, Veteran's Day, and they were replacing the carpet in the office so the place was pretty disrupted that November.

I actually got the call on day-110, the day before the terrorist attack. Wife and I were on the road driving to AZ for a short vacation when Detective Logan called.

Since you are not in possession of the handgun, the other occupants of the vehicle can be charged with illegal conceal carry in a vehicle [PC 25400(a)(3)] and/or possessing loaded firearm in a vehicle in public [PC 25850(a)].
The way I understood it was this... and please help me understand if I'm wrong. Even as the only occupant, any gun not on my person had to be locked up as if you are transporting any other firearm. No glovebox, no console, etc. In other words, even if my ccw has my 1911 listed then if it's not concealed on my person then it then I can't simply slip it in the door pocket or center console while traveling.

Adding to this... My questions on this manner were also concerning my motorcycle. I was hoping with the CCW a listed weapon (full size 1911 for example) could be carried loaded in the rear saddlebag on my Harley. I'm not so sure now...

The only thing I recall being mentioned was the situation where a 2nd person was in the vehicle... that off-body COULD be viewed by an officer as allowing the unlicensed passenger to have access, which could be a concealed charge against them, and IIRC, there is a statute applicable to the driver regarding allowing a passenger in their vehicle to have access to a loaded weapon.

I'm pretty sure that if you are the only occupant, off-body carry in the vehicle is fine, since you are the only person with access.

Of course, one email can clarify this

I wanna buy a Glock 43. Anyone know if they will let me have it on my permit since it is off roster? I've been getting mixed answers from people.

Off roster is not a problem in and of itself.

                          The problem is SSE (v1.0).
The registration information in AFS must match the caliber and model of the gun you take to class. Generally, SSE had replacement barrels in 22lr.
This can be "laundered" by running a pawn-and-return where the fresh DROS updates AFS to the proper caliber and semi-automatic status.

But if you simply PPT an off-roster handgun, or brought it with you as a new resident and registered it, you're fine.

Off roster is OK. The only thing that I've heard is that they don't want .25ACP single shot pistols on your permit.

So buying a 43 ppt shouldn't be an issue then?

The barrels were .25acp. The .22lr "rimfire" wouldn't fire in a "centerfire" gun.
