Yep it does seem there was some misinformation from the department when I called to confirm where and when the class began today. I also drove to HQ on E 3rd, only to find no one there. Then I hauled *** to the training center on 18000 West Institution Rd. (Glen Helen Training Facility near the jail), since that's what the outdated CCW form says that came with my packet. Finally I went to AVGC. Last student to arrive ..45m late =\ glad the instructor was understanding

Good question. SBCSO asked me for a letter when I went to my interview in July. I didn't have one. Long story short, San Bernardino PD gave me a letter that same day while I waited in the lobby. Didn't have to do anything but ask. The letter simply stated that they don't have any objections to the SBCSO issuing as long as I meet the requirements. Maybe ask someone at Upland PD?Originally posted by SunsetIEI picked up the LTC paperwork from Upland PD today (my city of residence) to get the denial letter before heading to the county.
Upon reading the paperwork, it appears I have to pay a $100 fee at the time of turning in the application - Non refundable at that, before i would be inevitably denied.
Or have I read this incorrectly?War is when your Government tells you who the enemy is......
Revolution is when you figure it out for yourself.Comment

I originally started out by picking up a CCW packet with Upland PD. They will still schedule an interview with one of their detectives... mine was with Lieutenant Yoakim. Within a week or two of the interview, you'll receive your denial letter in the mail. They don't ask you for the $100 payment unless you are approved for further processing, which won't happen since they've 'declared G' and delegated CCW issuance authority to the Sheriff.
Make an appointment for an interview with SBCO now while you wait for that letter. It's going to be awhile.Comment

The clerk who gave me the packet informed me nothing would happen UNTIL i were to return with said packet completed and cash/check/MO in hand - i asked about the scheduling process.I originally started out by picking up a CCW packet with Upland PD. Ill go back to the PD tomorrow and try to get this straightened out, shouldnt be this hard to get a NO!Last edited by SunsetIE; 09-11-2013, 12:51 AM.Comment

They cannot, by law, require you to pay application fees prior to the determination of whether or not 'good cause' exists. It's late and I'd normally cite the PC reference for you but I'm sure some quick googling will turn it up. Just fill out the packet and hand it back in and set up an interview...I'm sure the person was just misinformed.Comment

The letter I have from my local pd just states a denial. Nothing mentions authorizing another entity to issue it.Originally posted by cpljboneQuick question: Does you denial letter from your city police dept. specifically need to state that they have no objection to applying to the county? Mine just merely denies me, and I'm not sure if that letter will be good enough
I Think of it like this... You ask your brother to goto the movies. He says no, doesn't say ask mom or dad just No. You know Mom and Dad out rank your brother. Mom and Dad say yes you may goto the movies. What's your brother going to do?
Good Luck!Comment

Asked many times but don't see an answer.
1) What is being used or accepted now as Good Cause statement?
2) Is there any restriction for a disabled person to receive CCW? The disability doesn't affect the ability to safely carry, conceal and discharge a firearm safely.
1) Explain what personal protection means to you.
2) When I had my initial CCW class many years ago, there was an older gent there shooting from his walker. It isn't going to be an issue.
#2 should be part of #1 for you
I would use something along the lines of "Being a disabled person leaves me at a greater risk of being a crime victim because I am unable to run away from a criminal and it is a well known fact that criminals like to seek out easy prey."
There, I just wrote your good cause statement for you. Don't forget to add "I am applying for a license to carry a concealed weapon for personal protection" in front of it.Comment
