Hi everyone, I'm new here but have been reading all these great posts. Found this site to be very helpful. Well I had my interview, and it seemed like it went well. Is there a way to tell if you are accepted or denied before they call you in the 90 day time period? It was hard to tell. I'm a little nervous...thanks guys!

What do you do if you have a problem neighbor. I have had to call the cops on them numerous times and their son sells pot next door. We have had words over it and don't even make eye contact these days. I am afraid this may hurt me if they are interviewed. The house next store is vacant, the lady across the street from me is terminally ill and her house has been vacant since Christmas while she is in and out of the hospital.

Having ****ty neighbors is one of the reasons I want a CCW. Lol

You'll be fine as long as you have no ghosts you didn't disclose in your closet. They'll call you and tell you when your check is complete and usually in the same call schedule the range class or worse case provide a denial letter I'd suspect.

Honestly, the interview felt like I was applying for a position as a police officer

Anyone have their interview in late July/August yet? If so, how did it go and have you heard anything?

Asked many times but don't see an answer.
                      1) What is being used or accepted now as Good Cause statement?
                      2) Is there any restriction for a disabled person to receive CCW? The disability doesn't affect the ability to safely carry, conceal and discharge a firearm safely.

                        Uncle,

To address your first question : The only reason to ever need to carry should be related to personal safety / protection. SBCSD will expect you to articulate why you need a CCW...i.e protection from what threat(s) specifically? That's where your good cause statement will become personalized, since everyone's circumstance is different. They do not issue for work-related purposes, and you don't need a CCW to carry in your home, so make sure your statement is related to neither.

As far as being a disabled person, I do not recall reading or hearing any policies during my application process thus far that would preclude you from obtaining a CCW. I would expect, if anything, that your chances would be even better since you would be considered to have a decreased means of physical self-defense in a violent confrontation unless equipped with a gun + a trained trigger-finger.

Not a lawyer, just speaking from my own experience. Hope that helps. Feel free to PM me with any questions if you have others.

I hate to sound harsh, and I really am not trying to be, but your GC statement needs to be yours. If you don't have GC, and you use one that you got from the internet on your application, you've just committed a crime, and your "good moral character" is now gone. It really is very simple to come up with a legit GC in SBC. You only need a couple of sentences elaborating on "I need a license to carry for personal protection".

                          2) Is there any restriction for a disabled person to receive CCW? The disability doesn't affect the ability to safely carry, conceal and discharge a firearm safely.
As long as your disability doesn't make you a danger, it won't be an issue.

When they do employment verification do they tell your employer that you're applying for a CCW?

                              They didn't with mine.

My HR showed me the letter that came in, on the letter it does mention that I was applying for CCW.
