I don't think they were supposed to do that. Nonetheless, now we know that the nature of the form is in fact disclosed to our employer's HR dpt. This makes sense because my manager was asking me a few odd questions when they received mine...

The letter does state you are applying for CCW. I'm the HR person, so I got my own letter (yes, I did have one of the partners fill it out).

San Berdoo does not have a threshold for "good cause". This is not Orange County, and you do not have to be more at risk than the average Joe.

Simply stating that you want to carry a gun for your personal protection is sufficient. They now ask that you round this out with a paragraph or two and not simply write, "personal protection".

Again, no one get's denied in San Berdoo due to insufficient good cause.

I can't imagine there would be any restrictions for a disabled person, particularly given that you said it doesn't affect the ability to safely carry or conceal.

          San Bernardino

Could someone that recently went to the shoot at the apple valley gun club or is going this weekend pm me some details. I'm attending this Sunday.

I misplaced my notes on the money order amounts and what paperwork I need to bring. I'd call the SBSO but I'm working in the desert throughout the day and don't have cell service until its too late in the day.

          Anyone's help is greatly appreciated!

I've got your back buddy...I'll be there on Sunday, 9/8 as well.

            Itinerary:

Arrive at SBC Sheriff's Dpt. HQ @ 8 A.M for classroom instruction. Bring 2 money orders. One for $100 - payable to San Bernardino County Sheriff's Dpt.; the other for $25 - payable to Apple Valley Gun Club (assuming you're a non-member...otherwise, you don't need to pay this fee).

After classroom component, we head off to Apple Valley Gun Club. 5-yard target shoot..10-rds with one speedload per pistol you're registering on permit. No time limit.

            Items to bring:

            guns
minimum 20-rounds of factory ammo for each pistol
            eye/ear protection
food for lunch and bottled water
            money orders
            holsters - owb or iwb
            proper clothing..no shorts or sandals
            extra mag for each pistol

I think that covers it. PM me if you want to coordinate

added: I confirmed this info myself by calling their employee services line the other day.

Hey guys. I was wondering if anyone can give me some advice. Recently I applied and my broker received an employment verification letter stating that I was applying for my concealed weapons permit. Now I didn't mind because I'm a realtor part time aside from my full time job.
My concern is that they sent the same letter notifying my current employer about my application for ccw. I don't know if they sent the same one, but it makes me a little nervous. What should I do?

If they sent a letter, I'm sure it's the same as the one that your broker got. Why so nervous? What should you do about what?

I'm nervous that my company may be wondering why I'm applying. I don't know if they're anti gun or if it could potentially raise questions about my character even though we know it shouldn't matter. I just thought that applying for a CCW was kept private, because after all it is a personal choice. So I didn't know if I should call the sherriff's department and express my concern or if that would even make a difference.

Some people out there have CCWs because there are people literally gunning for their family. It's an extremely personal issue and if your employer oversteps their boundaries by asking you intrusive questions about a private matter, I would not hesitate to remind them of those boundaries.

I understand all of this, but I thought that our application was supposed to be kept private, since again this is all a very personal choice to carry. So this means that when they interview our neighbors and our employers they will be aware of us having a CCW?

They'll be aware that you applied, but they'll only know you have a permit if you tell them, or if they go through the hassle of a public records request. A carry permit isn't really all that private unfortunately.

Does the classroom component not happen at the AVGC clubhouse? When I got my phone call I thought she said to show up at AVGC but you say to show up at the Sheriff's HQ (I'm assuming the one on Third).

edit: in looking over the piece of paper I was writing on during the call, I have down to show up at 8am at AVGC and that the rest of the handout minus the location is all accurate. Looking at the AVGC calendar, it shows the clubhouse in use from 8am-5pm as well as P1 for the SBSD CCW course. I don't see how it would benefit anyone to have a classroom instruction down in SB and then drive to AV to do the range portion. Plus the paper for the SB location is all at the Devore location and not the HQ. I guess I should follow up on these threads with a little more time than 11 hours before having to be somewhere

Well I'm worried, I'm a the SBSO HQ off 655 E 3rd not a soul here yet. I had my wife call Friday and she said they told them the same thing that fox passed on. The class started at 8am at the SBSO, then after the class portion is over then the shoot occurs.

Pm me please if you know any different. I'm in a red honda
