None of my neighbors ever said anything to me about getting a visit.

one of my neighbors found out. He's an older gentlemen and asked a bunch of questions. The investigator coughed it up. No big deal.

It depends on the officer doing the check.
Some simply say "non-criminal investigation", some come right out with CCW.

This was one aspect that caused me to hold off for a few years hoping it would go away... a number of my neighbors are part of the reason I applied.

In the end, Detective Diaz came by on a day when the HOA was repaving the parking lot. Rather than risk being towed (a marked unit? ) he just chatted with my wife, then handed her a couple of business cards and asked her to have "a couple" of neighbors call him.

The fact that we've lived here since '94 and I'm on the HOA was certainly pretty convincing evidence that I do in fact live here.

I question that the neighbor was told this. I am well aware of the neighbor visits and they really try to be vague about the reason for the questions.

Yea, My neighbor is an older guy that talks a lot / asks questions. The investigator told him it didn't really bother me. My neighbor isn't anti gun dude by any means.

I've asked several of my neighbors, none of them talked to anyone about it, at least that's what they've told me. I have no clue... I've owned and lived at the house since 2001 so I think it's pretty easy to verify my residence, perhaps they stopped by and saw my Jeep in the driveway and that was good enough.

I kind of assumed the residence check was also to ask neighbors if they've seen any violent behavior or any neighborhood feuds going on etc.

Loud noises and smelling funny stuff coming from your residence are two of the reasons I've heard for the visit.

Yes. We have been Neighbors since 1986 and He used to work for Me. We still Hangout from time to time. I did not ask how the Conversation went.

During my time few years back, my neighbor went to me and say "so you are applying for a state job huh?" & a cop came and ask about you and told us that you are applying for a state job...." fair enough for me. I responded...oh yes that was a year ago...I'm still waiting for their call if I got it out not. Few weeks after I am doing my range time.
