If you are worried about passing the qualification or just need a little confidence building and questions answered, the Apple Valley Gun Club is doing a Pre-CCW class monthly. The next one is 5-2-17. Check the calendar on their website.

        LOOKING FOR HELP:

applied back in july, interviewed 3/9/17, received call on 4/5/17 notifying me that my background was completed, but they never received my employment verification. I spoke to my boss and he told me he never got anything. I called back and they said they could email him, so i gave them his email. at the end of the day, i asked him about it, and he told me he had still not gotten anything. Should I wait before contacting the sheriff, assuming they are swamped with backgrounds, or bother them until they get the ball rolling?

basically im impatient since im coming up on a year since i applied, but i dont want to piss them off and give them a reason to deny me. any advice?

I'd call back and ask them if they could email it to you ( at your work email ) so you can walk it over to your boss.

          Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

I wouldn't be that stressed out about it, I applied in June of 2016 and had my interview on 3/31. The BI said it can take up to 6 months to complete the background. Did your boss check his junk email folder?

Just be calm, follow their direction and be completely honest. If you do that it'll be a breeze.

Yep, totally a "shall issue" attitude in our county. You're pretty much as good as approved when you get to the interview, as long as your background doesn't turn something up it's just a matter of waiting it out now.

Start making sure you own the guns you want to carry... that will sneak up on you.
Buy made in USA whenever possible.

                          I don't know what to add for my 3rd gun. I already have 9mm shield and a Smith 642. I'm thinking a Glock 30s.

No rush on the holster, you will not use it for qualifying.
Two years from now you're going to have more holsters than Turners.

                            I started with a Shield, G26, and G36.

Rewind... When I applied, I was going to go Shield, SP101, and 1911.
Decided the 1911 was impractical, so decided to list my G26.
Went back and forth on the SP101... I really do not shoot wheelguns well. Oh ya, I can "qualify" with it, but I'm not personally comfortable with my competence.
A month before class, I bought a G36, and decided on the Shield, G26, and G36. Less capacity than the 1911, but smaller and lighter, so good to go. Up to this point, I was waffling between guns that I owned before I applied... the Shield WAS purchased with the express purpose of applying.

So in the last year+, I've never once carried the G26. With the Magguts kits to increase the capacity of the Shield, there is simply no advantage to the thicker G26, other than I shoot it SLIGHTLY better than the Shield.
So even before I had been carrying for 3 months, I bought a Kahr P380, intending to replace the G26 with something that I would be able to pocket carry for situations where a tuckable IWB doesn't quite work.

So I'll carry the G36 some weekends and on occasions when I'm not overly concerned about printing... but I'm finding that more and more I'm wearing a light jacket or some other kind of cover garment over my shirt

                            So this month, I bought a G30SF.
The G30SF will replace the G36, and the P380 will replace the G26.
Shield will most likely remain the EDC.

Oh ya... 8 months ago I bought a S&W M&P340 in 357, figuring it would replace the G36.
Nope. Not gonna shoot 357 out of it ever again, and I shoot the SP101 much better, which means that I don't shoot it NEARLY well enough to be comfortable carrying (again, I could qualify, but I am just not happy with my shooting)

why is that? lack of safety? do you have a good holster? kydex with full trigger guard?
                                my 3 are:
                                ruger lc9s
                                kahr cw9
                                ruger lcr 9mm.
none of which have any form of a safety aside from the lc9 with a trigger, glock like safety, which i personally prefer. Less to worry about or fumble with if the unthinkable ever did actually happen.
