Well I had my interview today. Everything went smoothly except for the fact that I got nervous on a couple questions. Hopefully they don't hinder me. I was a little hesitant to answer some medical questions in the beginning because of HIPPA laws, but in the end I answer truthfully. Overall staff was very helpful and very cordial.

Looks like Sheriff Hoops is retiring in December...and he's recommending Assistant Sheriff John McMahon as his successor to the county Board of Supervisors.

Hi everyone. I've been a long time lurker on the forums but rarely post. Anyway, I just became a 1 year resident of San Bernardino Co. and am still a little confused about just how exactly to start the process. I live in Upland which means we have a local PD. Is there anyone with expertise who can PM me with info on how to get started? Any info would be greatly appreciated.. Thanks

Go to the local PD and ask for a CCW application. They will likely laugh at you. Ask for a letter saying no. take that letter to the sheriff in San berdoo on 3rd street and pick up your app.

I have 2 homes. One in SB and one in OC. We spend all our free time at the house in SB and work in the OC. How's that work with applying for a CCW? The time is split between the two ?

Is there a template for the reference letters? And what if you don't have 7 non-related people to use as references? Tough noogies?

Where did you vote? What's the address on your license? That's a good start.

No need to go to PD. Just go to SBSO on 3rd St. and pick up your app.

If you live in a city that has its own police dept. You must get denied by them first before going to SBCSD and those agencies know the drill. Ontario told me straight out time fill out the form, we will send a letter of deniel and take that to SBCSD

Winnre there is no mail there so we keep everything going to the OC house. Ocsd is a no issue county.i was wondering if it was feasible to go through SBSD since we share time in both counties. Would they even let us apply. I could start registering everything up there but i would still be using the oc mailing addy.

They will ask you two questions before they give you an application: Where do you live, and how long have you been there. If you live in OC you do not get an app.

They will want your tax bill, utility bill, neighbor references, they WILL go up the street asking your neighbors about you too, will they say you live in OC? I think what is on your tax forms, car registration, or CDL are going to be the clinchers.

Here's a question, I've been reading other people's experiences and mine seems a little strange. I went in June or July ( can't remember exactly which) and picked up my application. I called shortly after for my appointment. Instead of giving me a date, they took my name and number and told me they'd call me around December and would then be given an appointment around march. Does this sound like what happened to any of you? Additionally, I am a new resident (I was given my app because I would have my 1 year by the time of the appointment). I live in a sheriff contracted city. The web site and my local sub station both say that I am not subject to the 1 year requirement. The central office said I was. I'm not too concerned as they let me get my app, but I was just curious what you all thought.

                                Thanks
