Also are foam plugs OK or do you need over the ear protection?Comment

I wore prescription Oakleys (wrap style) and Sport-Ear amplified plugs.
I didn't see anyone's ears or eyes questioned.
I've never been questioned at any range on conventional prescription glasses without side shields (but the lenses are safety rated)- Rich

Actually just one Sport Ear.
I'm deaf in one ear, but I always throw a foamie in there so I don't draw attention from ROs

$400 for the cheapest, they go up from there.
One of these days I'm going to need a hearing aid and hopefully will be able to get Kaiser to cover something like the Custom 360.- Rich

YOW!!! Go big or go home. I almost spit out my coffee! How well do they work compared to other in-ear setups? Muffs?
Thank you.

Haha...
They work very nicely... maybe a bit too sensitive, but I guess I need to turn them down
At the indoor range, they tend to pick up a lot of the ventilation system noise, and at AVGC, they picked up a lot of the highway noise. A more isolated outdoor range like Angeles or Burro would probably not be as distracting.
When I went back for the defensive handgun class, I wore my standard amplified muffs because the forward-facing mic made hearing the instructor easier. With my hearing loss as it is, picking out a voice from background noise is a challenge so the directionality of the mics makes a difference.- Rich

I just did my range day today at the SBSD Training center. It is very laid back. Deputy Diaz ran the class and asked for class participation. Simply asked people to read the power point slide on the screen. Just call out and read. I did one slide. Lunch at 12, range at 1.
Bring your guns unloaded, locked case, locked and left in your car until you go to the range. There will likely be a wait while your guns are inspected. Be patient. Do not unlock until you are inspected. After the inspection you can load the mags but don't load your gun. Load 5 per mag or speed loader if you shoot a revolver. That will happen step by step at the line. Standard eye glasses will work, you can use ear plugs or muffs. There is no time requirement to fire your shots. You will fire 5 rounds The targets won't be changed for your round. The targets are marked if you are out of the zone. You need 3/5 to qualify per mag or speed loader. It really seems more like a safe handling demo than a proficiency test. There were some people that actually struggled. Dep. Diaz recommended more training when it was all over though everyone passed.
He is a good guy and is all for us being legally armed and well equipped. Pretty 2A and didn't care much for new AW laws but didn't rant on. More of a SMH moment.Comment
