These appointments are only on Fridays and are limited by a bunch of different things. Through some contacts and Private messages on Calguns, it seems like the 7th is the only Friday that opened for Issuance Appointments for the entire month of April. I could be wrong and I truly hope someone will follow up with a post informing that there were other days opened.

Unfortunately many of the Legacy database applicants have been checking in multiple times per day for months. The 16 hour CCW course is only accepted for six months before it expires.

Unfortunately for the online applicants, I really hope that catching up on renewals will allow more time for Issuance Appointments. There are a lot of people in front of the online applicants, the process is a lot more backed up than you realize.

Keep your chin up and stay with it
I got the 6 month experation after the live scan came back I think they changed it due to the bogg of back log and new system

I had one person at the office tell me they open on the first and a second person in the office tell me there is no set day of release. Looking back in this thread, the dates and days have been all over the place.

Just moved and did the address modification form. When uploading proof of residency documents I uploaded the same one twice. I already submitted it all the way and paid.

I emailed the CCW office, explained the situation and attached a copy of the correct proof of residency to the email. I asked if there was a way to amend my original submission and that I was having a hard time figuring it out. Their response was "Please update the document in your profile". It even has similar verbiage on their on their FAQ page:
              10. I made a mistake on my application. How do I fix it?

Once you save your application it is protected and cannot be updated or modified. Think of it as a document written in ink. Please make sure numbers and names are typed correctly. If you do submit the form with an error, you may place your corrections on a separate piece of paper and then scan/upload the document to your CCW file.
Does anyone know where I would go to do this? Where do I go to find my "CCW file"

Also, do they contact you after they've reviewed your submission and then schedule an appointment for you or do I need to schedule an appointment somewhere on their website?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Anyone know what is going on with issuance appointments? They are not answering the phone, I have emailed over a week ago and it doesn't appear that there have been any appointments opened since April 7th. Is the office closed for spring break?

I don't think they take a spring break there.

That's strange, I have emailed three separate times, and have received a response within 24 hours each time.

I emailed them on March 30th and got this automated response. No personal response at all yet.

We apologize that we cannot quickly respond to all emails during this period of increased demand.

                                CCW FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
                                1. When will my application be processed?
What is the status of my New/Renewal/Modification/Duplicate Application? Why does it still show “pending”? I submitted my application on “X” date – when will it be processed?

You can check the status of your application at any time. Using the Permitium website, click on ‘Order Tracker’ at the top of the page. In the drop-down box type in your order number and you will be able to access your CCW file. Note: Status updates are no longer provided by CCW Staff by email, telephone or walk-in visits. We cannot provide an estimate as to when your application will be processed.

                                2. Where is my appointment for a New Application Interview?

All CCW business is conducted at 2101 Hurley Way, Sacramento, CA (located near the intersection of Howe Avenue and Hurley Way).

                                3. Can you confirm my appointment date/time?

See #1 – Access your CCW file via the Order Tracker to verify the date/time of your appointment.

                                4. I am having trouble trying to make an Issuance Appointment (NOTE: this applies only to CCW Applicants who are pending in the old (legacy) Sacramento Sheriff’s Department’s CCW Database). If you applied online, you are not in the legacy database.

Issuance Appointments for applicants in the legacy CCW system are held on certain Fridays. To schedule your appointment, access the Issuance Appointment Calendar by going to www.sacsheriff.com<http://www.sacsheriff.com/>, click on SERVICES, then GUN PERMITS. You will see the following notice:

The link provided below is for Issuance appointments only. Issuance appointments are only for those who have received notice that their DOJ/FBI background has been completed. Appointments are limited so please do not schedule until you are notified of your clearance.

                                Issuance Appointment Calendar<http://www.sacsheriff.com/ccwappointments>

Click on the Issuance Appointment Calendar link and the appointment calendar will pop up for the current month. Generally only one month is open at a time. To view the following month, click on the “NEXT” button. Available days will be highlighted in green. If there are no dates highlighted in green this simply means the calendar is full. Feel free to keep checking back frequently because anytime someone cancels their appointment it will reflect on the calendar as being an open appointment date. We cannot predict when the next month’s calendar will be available because it is dependent on several factors.

                                5. Is there a grace period after my permit expires that allows me to still carry my CCW permit after it expires?

There has NEVER been a grace period that allowed permit holders to continue to carry their CCW after their permit expired. We recommend you submit your online Renewal Application 30-45 days prior to your permit’s expiration date and scan/upload your training and qualification documents simultaneously or soon thereafter.

We understand that some permit holders’ permits may expire before we are able to process their Renewal Permit and we deeply apologize for this. Staff is working very hard to minimize the impact on our valued Permit Holders. We greatly appreciate your understanding and patience while we work to decrease the overwhelming demand for renewal permits. We cannot provide an estimate as to when your permit will be processed.

                                6. Is there a grace period that allows me to submit my Renewal Application if I let it expire?

There is a 60-day grace period. If you fail to submit your Renewal Application after the 60-day grace period, you will have to start the process over as a New Applicant.

                                7. What is this charge on my credit card from Permitium LLC? My credit card was rejected, what do I do?

Please contact Permitium to resolve this issue by calling (855) 642-2453 or emailing help@permitium.com<mailto:help@permitium.com>

                                8. I submitted two applications; how do I cancel one and get a refund?

Email the CCW Bureau (ccw@sacsheriff.com<mailto:ccw@sacsheriff.com>) and identify which order number you want to CANCEL and which order number you want to retain and we will cancel the appropriate application and issue you a refund.

                                9. I am having trouble scanning and uploading documents.

Please do not bring documents to our office, unless specifically requested by our staff. Due to the complexity and variety of computers, mobile devices and document scanners, Sheriff’s Department CCW staff are unable to assist you in uploading your documents. You are urged to consult the owner’s manual for your particular device to learn the steps necessary to scan and upload documents to the website. If you do not possess the necessary equipment (i.e., computer and scanner, tablet computer, mobile telephone, all-in-one printer/scanner) many office supply stores have computer workstations and personnel to assist you with uploading your documents to the website.

Once you have successfully scanned the documents and saved them to your device, access your CCW file and scroll to the bottom and click on ADD DOCUMENTS. Choose the document you want to scan and name it appropriately (i.e., CCW 4-hour class form; SMUD bill; etc.).

                                8. Should I scan documents individually?

Yes, please scan each document as a single file. This will speed up the process for staff when comparing documents to your application and other resources. Scanning all documents as one file will slow up and delay the processing your application.

                                10. I did not get confirmation when I scanned/uploaded my documents? Did you receive them and are they acceptable?

A green box containing a checkmark and the message “Successfully Uploaded” will appear when your document is accepted by the system. Confirmations are not currently being provided by CCW staff. CCW Staff will review your application to verify all required documents have been submitted; if not you will receive notification about missing or incomplete documents.

                                11. How many guns can I list on my CCW permit?

At the present time only three handguns can be listed. Governor Brown signed a bill that became law January 1, 2017 that authorized the creation of a CCW ID card. DOJ must first convene a committee to study this issue and recommend a standardized CCW ID card. It is not known what mandated information must be on the new CCW ID card or whether permit holders will be able to list more than three handguns.

                                12. I moved and submitted my Modification application online but you have not yet processed my renewal application. Can I still carry my CCW as long as I have not moved out-of-county?

As long as you have submitted your online Modification application, submitted proof of your new residency online, and have changed your HOME address (and NOT your vehicle registration) with the California DMV, then you have complied with our requirements and you can continue to carry your CCW until we are able to process your application. If you have moved out of Sacramento County, then you must send us an email (ccw@sacsheriff.com<mailto:ccw@sacsheriff.com>) to let us know your new address. Your CCW permit will remain valid for 90 days and you will have to apply in your new County of residence for a CCW permit.

                                13. CCW Renewals: How do I make an appointment to come and pick up my CCW?

Renewal applications do not require an appointment. Your application will be processed in the order we received it. When we complete your application review you will be sent an email advising you when (days and times) you can come by the Office to pick it up.

                                14. I wish to add a second firearm to my permit this Renewal period. I have scheduled my 4-hour renewal instruction class and will qualify on both firearms (current + new additional). Will the renewal/qualification on two weapons be sufficient? Is it also necessary to do a MODIFICATION, because I am adding the new firearm?

Each time you renew your CCW permit, you must qualify with ALL three firearms you want listed on your permit. You cannot utilize a previous qualification form. When you renew you can always choose to list the same three firearms from your previous permit, or list three entirely differently firearms, so there is never a need to also submit a MODIFICATION application at the time of Renewal.
