Can I use my iPhone while I'm at work to check frequently or does it only work with a PC? I'd be bummed if I got an appointment on iPhone only to have it give me some error message !

Has anyone in the suburbs had any luck with approval and if so what examples of "good cause" are typical in these areas?
The whole where you live thing is from an old policy. It is not in effect anymore. As long as you live in the county, have no disqualifying legal history and jump through the training hoops all you need to do is use self defense and you will get your license.

you can't apply for CCW if you live within 1000yd of a school?!?!?!
Proximity to a school is irrelevant.

Just a word of caution. I hear that very recently some of my students have found openings just within a day or two, (after checking the site often) and the S.O. has called them to cancel their appointment. In my opinion, they (S.O.) may have not had the time to run the thorough electronic background check, prior to the interview. Don't forget to cancel your old appointment, but if your "new" appointment is less than a week or so away, you may want to wait to cancel, just as soon as you get out of your interview. But, please do not forget to cancel your old one.

There is CSTA on Freeport across from the Exec airport, And another
on Fruitridge 1 or 2 doors down from River City Gun Exchange.Sorry,
can't remember the name. Both charge around $100, and will fullfil
                      the training requirement.

Both of these are BSIS-certified schools. I'd highly recommend CSTA - professional without a lot of ego.

As people have said before, check, and check often, to see if appointments have opened up. Other than that, nothing else to recommend.

You have to check literally every 10 minutes for one on Tuesday and Wednesday

The one on Fruitridge is Universal Security Academy.
