State Government buildings are OK for CCW, except for courthouses if you are a party to the action. Penal Code 171b(b)(3).

Post Offices are a no go.

Until earlier this summer, there were some additional restrictions printed on the Sacramento County CCW. This is all that remains, and is printed on my CCW... "NOT VALID IF CONSUMING ALCOHOL OR REMAINING AT ANY ESTABLISHMENT THAT PRIMARILY SERVES ALCOHOL"

My CCW, while still is valid, it doesn't authorize me to carry on postal property because Federal Law concerning Post Offices doesn't recognize the CCW.

Got my approval letter in the mail today. Stopped by the Rockingham station and got my Livescan done. Very pleasant conversation with the lady doing the Livescan. She seemed very pro CCW.

        Class this weekend!

          Sponsorship funds sent!

Thanks for all your hard work and dedication, Calguns Foundation!! You really have made a difference You have helped to bring about an end to the injustice of "special connection" based CCW permit issuances here in Sac, and I am honored to say "sponsorship funds sent!"

          Regards,

The wallet I am going to buy for the permit. Supposed to be the thinnest ever?

Your Sacramento CCW will not fit in that wallet. From your link:
                  DIMENSIONS: 3 3/4" X 3 7/8" X 1/8"

After carefully trimming my CCW's lamination, it measures 2 9/16" x 4". The paper within the lamination itself is 3 7/8" wide. I'm already cutting it pretty close and I would guess that wallet would have a hard time even fitting something 3 3/4" wide. My AmEx credit card measures 3 3/8" wide so you can compare that to the photo of the wallet you're considering.

See http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...77#post5891577 for what I think is a better wallet option.

Be careful trimming your permit. I trimmed mine too far- into the paper- not realizing that the lamination holds the permit folded in half. Mine fell open like it was hinged. When I took it back to get a modification (they forgot to put one of my pistols on the original permit; yes, I had to pay the $10 for their mistake) the retired officer/helper told me I shouldn't have done that because they might think I was trying to modify it myself. I promised I wouldn't trim my new one!

I am trying to get in contact with some of the guys who took Wes's CCW class on Feb 12/13. Nothing important but would like the chance to keep in contact or share information. And we can always use new shooting partners.

BTW my name is Dennis in case you remember me.

                      Take care, be safe.

What is the qual process at Sac Valley? I took the class at Rancho Cordova Shooting Center back in 2003 and it consisted of shooting 30 rounds form each gun at a target 15 yards out. Is the Sac Valley process different?

Sac Valley's qual shoot itself is 30 rounds, @ 15 yards, inside the 8 ring of a silhouette target. No time limits. As long as you know how to do basic marksmanship, you should do just fine.

No drawing from holster, off hand shooting, reloads or shooting from the hip?

Contact Wes, he does all that, the qual make a lot more sense than unlimited time for 30 rounds.

Tell him you can't modify your AFS record, and if you want to be snotty you can ask why other departments don't bother with lamination. Or just nod pleasantly and trim it when you get home anyway.

                                Man I'm cranky today!
