I notice the calls go out on Thursdays. I was hoping to get the call today. Maybe next week...

Question for those already approved...when the initial app was filled out it ask to list the make, model, caliber and serial # of the guns desired for ccw...but say during the waiting period to be approved I wanted to modify the list and have not taken the class or qualified yet...what's the process? Will adding or modifying the list delay the approval even longer?

No it won't delay anything. The list isn't finalized until you do quals.

Well since I can't sleep. I may as well help some people get their CCW. Just keep us updated on your status.

It is not. You need to articulate a good cause that puts you at risk that can be mitigated by a CCW. However, you can see by this thread and everyone being approved that it's attainable.

thanks for the quick reply. i'd seen a little discussion, but of course, people are reluctant to go into much detail. the discussion i'd seen didn't fit me.

i'd seen that sheriff sniff had come down in favor of ccw holders being allowed to carry during archery season for defense against backwoods criminal elements. he was clearly stating the reasonableness of carrying for self defense, but i didn't know if that logic would hold much water.

thanks again for the help figuring this stuff out.

Almost every acceptable good cause centers around self-defense. Riverside requires that you simply explain the scenarios that you are frequently in where being armed would increase your self-defense.

So yes, Riverside accepts good causes centering around self defense. But no, they don't accept the 2 word answer: self defense.
