I was thinking about current events and lack of police response but thought that would not work. I would say I don't have any unique or elevated reason for me to carry other then general self defense, should I even apply?

My good cause revolved around personal defense. I cited some instances of violent crime occurring nearby. I also explained how my work schedule keeps me out and about at odd hours. And I threw in some shade about AB109 and Prop 47

My investigator said "you hit the nail on the head with that"

Something that you can probably add that wasn't as relevant when I wrote my good cause ... The lockdowns of Covid and people being out of work for so long will inevitably push someone over the brink of desperation to commit crime. I think that's some solid good cause if you can explain your reasoning well

So I got a call from RSO last Friday and was told I could pick up my modified permit the following day on Saturday 5/30. I got there shortly after opening at 8:00a. In the short time I was there, I saw several people leave and a few people were in line when I got there. We were all picking up permits. The whole CCW team was there working along with their lieutenant. Great group.

as well, as the civil disobedience morphing into random violence with the rioting. The advice I was given was to look at the news for your cause.

Maybe but my timeline was about the same with a much simpler process. I submitted a modification on 3/12. As I see it, they didn't get your complete package till 5/12. Once everything is together it goes through their signature chain for approval by the sheriff. Hang in there.

Exactly this. Focus on society and how you interact with it. Do you commute to work? Are there places that are remote on your drive? If you broke down there would you be able to call for help and wait for help to come? Do you ever go for walks in the country or on trails? Wild life might be an issue, cell reception is def an issue. Ever have to walk through downtown? Ever been approached by a vagrant or someone obviously on drugs? Could it happen to you with your normal day to day?

I had to get specific and rewrite my good cause but all of the basics are already there. The guys at the Riverside Sheriff's office are amazing as well. They told me I had my core message perfect and just had me add a couple of things. They are putting in hard work right now, considering how this thread blew up the last few months.

When I applied in March I used personal protection while away from the home as my cause. I’m pretty sure most of us feel safe while at home because of our firearms but while out in public we’re vulnerable to bad guys. My good cause in a nutshell.
I had to rewrite mine and focus more on work related reasons. Programmer. Fancy laptops and software. High resale value. Intellectual property of my company and many outside vendors installed and saved. As well as visiting customers businesses at odd hours of the night in shady areas.

That got it done without question

Just 5 minutes ago got an email saying I can pick up my permit this weekend.

But yes, I did my live scan on the 21st I think and it was complete in two days.
