I got an email saying my renewal application has been approved and someone would reach out to me to collect payment information. Do I wait for them to call or do I have to email them my availability?

You can wait for them to call you for the payment or you can call them. If you get through, they will take your payment right then and there. If you let them call, it may be longer at the moment. They are busy. I waited a couple of days and started calling. Congratulations on the renewal getting approved before the end of the year!

I sadly have to announce that FAST OC will be shutting their doors as of 2024.

I had the pleasure and privilege to have Lance Boland as my renewal instructor twice and it's a loss to the gun community to see him move on to other parts of him life and our country.

In the end, it was not SB 2 that did them in but the influx of new gun owners and their ignorance as well as attitude.

I wish Lance the best in his life's pursuits.
My opinion on the CA Government:

The Tulare County Sheriff and Fresno County Sheriff have came out and posted a statement that they will NOT be enforcing the expansion of “sensitive spaces” in SB2 for lawful CCW permit holders as they consider those provisions in SB2 unconstitutional and an ineffective drain on their resources.

I’m wondering what the OCSD’s position is on this? And if a city PD ‘pops’ a permit holder for this misdemeanor, will OCSD pull the CCW permit or treat this like a speeding ticket on a bicycle?

I haven't seen anything on this. If you look at their CCW license page, they say they are currently in the process of updating and have updated some guidelines such as the doubling of training hours, taking out the ability for your spouse to share firearms on your permit, etc. All parts of SB2. None of the PDF documents available have been updated either. Enforcement for permit holders? Their silence to me suggests OC won't be out there specifically looking for this. If you were "popped" by anyone on this, I would think the permit would be suspended because regardless of the constitutionality of SB2, it's still law.

Does anyone know what happens if we submitted a renewal application at the end of 2023 as well as completed the renewal training class, and the application still hasn't been approved? Do we have to retake the training class according to whatever changes were made in SB2? I haven't heard anything, the status is still on "order started" and I submitted it 3 months ago.

Definitely reach out and email them since you?ve submitted everything already.

While you?re at it, upload a passport style photo too so it reduces back-and-forth.

My gf just renewed and I had her email them before the new year since she applied late Oct and got her training done in mid Dec. She was approved shortly after. They asked her to upload the photo before approval.

Should be in the mail sometime this week.

OCSD has added this to the application:

**REQUIRED** - Please add 3 references: Must fulfill the 3 sources: Spouse, other relative, and coworker. You must enter your relationship to the reference under Title.

What if you don't have a spouse?
ATF Form 4473: If a frame or receiver can only be made into a long gun (rifle or shotgun), it is still a frame or receiver, not a handgun or long gun.

Initial application or renewal? Or are they even distinguishing between the two? I understand that the IA has the option of requiring this for renewals.

                            Not required for renewals.

I went through the application earlier since I saw igs?s post about initial requiring references.

Coworker? Why not VP HR's on the company letterhead?

What if you don’t have a spouse, relatives, nor co-workers (retired or self-employed)? Does that mean you are disqualified by your life circumstances from exercising your civil right?
