Once I get my CCW in OC and if I move to LA in a few months, would La process my app more quickly? Or would I start at the end of the line and have a gap?

There is an LA county thread, this question is better posted there. Based on what I have heard about LA county, you will start at the end of the line because they are processed in the order received and estimated processing time is 9 months to 1 year last I checked. Different California IA, so having a current CCW permit from one California IA does not benefit the application process of another California IA. Only time having a current California CCW permit benefiting the CCW application process of another IA would be reciprocity like a non-resident Arizona CCW permit application.

You?re better off just applying in LA unless you want to pay double fees. Even then, as said above, no gain in having a permit when you apply.

So just got approved 12/8. Applied 10/18, interviewed 11/9 and completed course 12/5. Only issue during the process is my new sig p365 was dropped from the list due to IA not seeing the firearm registered to my name on the DOJ?s AFS. I contacted my LGS and they also said a lot of folks with p365s are having the same issue with showing updated ownership. I tried submitting the IA with a delivered and approved DROS that the LGS provided, but it wouldn?t fly with the office. So just FYI if you are going to amend or list a P365 it might not show on the AFS.

I just received an email from the Orange County CCW Licensing unit. I am sure this went out to many:

"Dear applicant, with the upcoming SB 2 (Firearms) law changes going into effect on January 1, 2024.
The CCW training requirements listed in Penal Code Section 26165 will be amended to include the course length, instruction on firearm safety, firearm handling, shooting technique, safe storage, legal methods to transport firearms and securing firearms in vehicles, laws governing where permit holders may carry firearms, laws regarding the permissible use of a firearm, and laws regarding the permissible use of lethal force in self-defense and instruction on mental health components.
While we are processing applications forward, if we have not requested you to complete the training requirement prior to December 31, 2023, you will be required to abide by the laws in place beginning January 1, 2024.
Penal Code Section 26165 (e) states: The applicant shall not be required to pay for any training courses prior to the determination of good cause (moral character) being made pursuant to Section 26202.

It?s the new on roster sig. Called lgs they have been talking to DOJ and they said AFS system there is a lag that IA will not see updated info. So suggesting folks who are adding their p365 to contact doj to confirm it?s updated on the AFS before amending with OC Sheriffs.

Can anyone confirm this? I thought it was entered electronically into AFS when the registration was made. Maybe I'm missing the context? I went back far enough I hope

Ok, 4th renewal approved….perhaps expedited at the end due to an email I sent on 12/1 asking about updates, but who knows? Some report longer times, others got theirs done notably faster….mine was 3 months and 10 days.

Approved 12/8

8/30 renewal application submitted
9/08 firearms training certificate completed and uploaded
12/13 requested and sent updated picture
12/13 Permit Approved

105 days total for a renewal and thankful

Yes they are via Teams. I had my interview on the 12/12, was approved on 12/14. Should have it in the mail on Monday. Applied 10/31.
