So seeing if anyone could potentially help me shape all these situations into a good cause statement? I kinda suck badly at wording things to sound properly, I looked around the forums and all I found was a dead thread with outdated information on OC good cause statements were the links were broken.

I usually go hiking late at night with my 3 dogs by the dark canyons near my home since its the only real time I can exercise myself and my dogs. I work as a Pharmacy technician retail and also have to deal with some shady clients who sometimes, don't like hearing no for an answer when we don't want to fill their narcotic prescriptions, and have been followed before by said people in the parking lots after work, when we get out at 7 pm. I have also had several break-ins next door to my house into the Dentists office next door. I have also had 2 active police pursuits through my back yard chasing suspects. I've also been harassed by a crazy neighbor who I believe is a convict due to tattoos all over his body displaying gang affiliations who chased me down the street yelling he would kill me and my dogs who "pissed" on his Halloween decorations, that they were nowhere near. I called the police and filed a report about it, they did nothing and the man Hid behind his elderly mother who said he hadn't been out all day and that his son was mentally retarded. I've also had to call cops several times for fights that have broken out while I'm parking my car arriving home or walking down the street with my dogs coming home from our hike. I can more than likely get the police report for the incident with my neighbor and the hooligans fighting, since the break-ins weren't really called in by me except for me contacting the PD to have a the officer come in to get the suspects shoe he dropped, in my backyard, which was full of illegal drugs.

So I am 50/50 on confidence I will be approved and instead of waiting for who knows how long I am wondering if you guys who have gone before me in getting a permit could give me some input. It's been 2 months since my interview and my live scan, and I know they had at least my record delivered within the first week, I'm sure the DOJ firearms is still pending. I'm wondering when they decide to issue a denial in the process, and when I would find that out. My plan is to wait till 90 days and call them for an update, but why wait if they sent a denial letter that is slowly making it's way to me. What if they simply don't issue that letter till like the 90 day mark and then it's another month till I get the letter... Would it be sensible to call and do a status check now? Please let me know what you think, thanks.

The deputy processing my application made it clear that I could email him at any time (Deputy Lofland). He also made it clear that he works part time processing these applications so he may not get back to me right away. I found that when I asked him for periodic updates he didn't seem to mind. Basically, I'm suggesting you email the deputy you are working with and just ask where you stand in the process. They shouldn't mind at all.

My detective gave me his card and indicated that I could contact him with questions.

I think I might start to request an update sometime after 90 days after your interview.

The detectives are all pro's and are not anti-CCW at all.

If you haven't been rejected yet, I would try to relax and let it happen.

It seems that those who were rejected didn't last the first interview, were asked to revise their GC statements or were notified shortly there after.

Maybe someone who was rejected will chime in, but I doubt that will happen ...

Great news for those asked to provide additional info ...

              Approvals continue in the OC.

                Good Morning Fellas.

Where is cheap place to get a livescan taken? attempting to save a few pennies here and there.

Your application is not submitted for approval or denial until everything is in and done. Takes about 3 months. So yeah, advice to email after 90 days is spot-on. DOJ report can take a couple of months, they usually tell you they have the whole file ready and are submitting to LT Sheriff for approval.

The interviewers seem to do some guiding, from what we've seen here, like suggesting a stronger GCS where applicable, but their job is simply to assemble the application file and interview the applicant. I imagine they want to screen out any obviously no-go applicants at that stage. But the majority of us will be granted a permit as long as everything comes back clean. And it does take about 3 months.

They are all within a few bucks of each other. Pick a mailbox place close to home and just go in. I did mine in Brea, PM if you want to try it - they had the latest and greatest scan machine and it was easy as pie, took about ten minutes. The scan service is about $25 to $35, the rest of the charges are the application fees for FBI and DOJ to do the background check. Everything is submitted electronically to OCSD.

Pick up OC CCW tomorrow. My good cause was honest though there was no specific threat/history re my safety. Rather I laid out my belief in staying vigilant, that the cops cannot be everywhere all the time, that the world is changing and sometimes not for the best, and lastly that in my job I am often in lonely dark areas in a suit, driving a nice car, and looking pretty vulnerable to a scumbag down on his luck and used to getting what he wants by force...

Supported all my assertions with facts, data, and links to sources.

Finished my initial interview. They said everything looked good except the lease agreement that was notarized on a seperate page. I was advised to have the address on the signed form.
