Had my CCW sheriff's interview today via zoom. Took approximately 17 minutes. 20 minutes later I get a text saying congratulations you've been approved. 15 minutes later I get an email with a number to call for payment. Also, I got my Utah CCW in the mail today also.

Wow, that is exemplary service. I wish the other counties could step up their efficiency to this level.
I wish today's liberals could understand: You cannot be generous by giving away other peoples' money and you cannot demonstrate your virtue by your willingness to give up other peoples' rights.

Just submitted my renewal 120 days before expiration. Two years ago (start of pandemic), it took 2 months for approval. Curious how long approval has been taking lately ~ thanks!

                  120 days??

I started my renewal process on line today and when I got part way through, a notice popped up saying that I have to wait till within 120 days to expiration date.
Last time it took 5+ months to complete and I went about a month without a license. They told me at that time to apply early next time.
                  So, what gives?
Is there a way around this?
                  Should I call them?

Nothing you can do. I recommend calling 6 months in advance to see whether they changed their renewal time estimates.

Looks like they are scheduling 1st appointments 4 1/2 months out.

Do you complete the training and livescan before or after the first appointment?
How long until issuance after the first appointment?
Does OC still send an officer to your house to confirm residency?
Can you get the training waived if you had an OC CCW that expired?

My OC CCW expires in May, submitted my renewal packet with completed course certificate in February, right at the 120 day period.

Followed up last week and was told they're processing January's applications in March and February (mine) applications in April. So they're basically running 2 to 2 1/2 months lead time.
Bad math, a 120 window should be OK.

How long until issuance after the first appointment? Depends
Does OC still send an officer to your house to confirm residency? No, unless they have a reason to.

I also submitted renewal at the 120 day boundary, in late January. I purposely scheduled my renewal training for this week so I wouldn’t get into the time window problem of the training certificate expiring if the renewal approval process took too long (figuring that gave me just under 60 days from training to my CCW expiring). I received a notification on April 1st (just over 60 days after I applied for renewal) that I needed to upload the training certificate by mid-April or the application would be refused. Good thing my class is this week … I can get it uploaded with a few days to spare.
