This is exactly why we need SCOTUS to make CCW an unambiguous right.

Relax. They are doing better than most places in CA.

No one is arguing with the second part of your statement that I have heard of.

Anyone familiar with complications for Active Duty Military obtaining CCW in Orange County? Will be moving there shortly and wanted to gather info.

I had a CCW in OC over 4 years ago, I've since moved out of state. I saw on the forums that the OC Sheriff website has since moved to a new "Permitium" application system. Years ago we submitted an application, waited for approval, THEN did the training course. This new system only lets someone submit an application once proof of training is uploaded.

What are your options now if you want to wait for approval before shelling out application fee and training course money?

Do good cause documents need to be uploaded at time of initial application submission? It used to be good cause documents were only brought in person to the appointment

If that's true, I believe that violates state law. I think that the law requires them to make a GC determination prior to requiring training. Did you see some policy to that effect or is that just how their implementation of Permitium seems to be working?
I wish today's liberals could understand: You cannot be generous by giving away other peoples' money and you cannot demonstrate your virtue by your willingness to give up other peoples' rights.

The more time I spend on this forum, the more sense kcbrown makes.

Upon further review of their Permitium system it states the training is not required at time of submission of the application.

It's not. The training cert is only good for 4 or 5 weeks i believe.
If your interview takes longer then that, you have to take the class over again.
I took my class one week before my interview.

My training cert was good for 6 months, though my renewal took 4 months.

                    The law seems clear.
CA PC 26165. (a) For new license applicants, the course of training for issuance of a license under Section 26150 or 26155 may be any course acceptable to the licensing authority that meets all of the following criteria:
                    [...]
                    (e) The applicant shall not be required to pay for any training courses prior to the determination of good cause being made pursuant to Section 26202.
This doesn't prohibit applicants from undertaking training prior to GC determination to get a "jump" on the system, but there are two risks in that:
                    1. You may be denied GC and you are out the cost of training.
                    2. Your IA may have a shelf-life on training certs and they could expire prior to getting through the GC process.

Approximately 4 months for me. Wasn't fun.

Do you already have your CCW? Or was it to modify your registered firearms?

I had a modification (add a gun ) on my current CCW just under 4 weeks.

Is it possible to just get a security guard license so we can open carry 24/7?

                                I applied back in September.
I had my interview a few days before Christmas.
I was never told to do it but I completed my training and Live Scan a week before my interview.
I check my status online every now and then.
                                It always says Approval Pending.
I checked last night and the Status Bar is gone.
Any idea how much longer before I get a yes or no answer?
