I initiated my livescan about a month prior to my appointment. How do I check the status?

There's no point calling the number for your livescan status. They don't keep it up to date.

Who did you do training/qualification with? Experience, positive/negative? Holster needed? 1 or 2 day class?

Artemis Defense in Lake Forest. 2 Day standard class, and lots of shooting from the draw, so holster is definitely needed. I love ADI, and I train there 5-8 times a month (since late December), so I may be biased.

Lots of knowledge dropped in the class. Instructors are top notch. Price is very competitive.

I forgot to mention that they have a free pre-CCW class you can attend. You can get a feel for their professionalism there before you drop a couple of bills on the class. They also have a good cause review service where an honest to goodness real lawyer will review your statement and fine tune it.

If you go to the pre-ccw class and buy a two pack of training, it's $80 (I think). 1 of those items, you can use at their 300 degree simulator (normally $80 by itself), and the other one you can use for the good cause review. $40 well spent.

Let me ask you, is $40 worth the peace of mind of knowing that your good cause is on firm legal ground, was reviewed by a lawyer who specializes in this, and works with law enforcement all the time? It's a no brainer.

I am not in OC. I was asking for OC members who might be interested.
FYI I have had my CCW for 20+ years and no attorney was ever needed.

                      OK.

There's a lot of anxiety from people posting about good cause review, looking for someone to help them out. Full disclosure: I'm not paid by ADI, quite the opposite.

Im confused. So your GC is on firm legal ground? Are there GC statements out there in use that are bogus? My permit doesn't state my GC on it. If that was the case you would be denied.

If it weren't a good GC, the sheriffs would say "NO" or "You don't pass go, please go fix it". Most people know ahead of time, prior to their appointment.

Or, is your good cause on legal ground as such, if you deploy this weapon and use it, your more justified?

They have been recommending 5-6 months before your expiration date to submit a renewal.

Mine comes up 8-8, so I submitted in March via email. They confirmed immediately. I got another followup 6-8 to provide proof of employment which I submitted and they confirmed. The email said they would be submitting my app for final on 6-16. I fully expect them to provide a pickup appoint at or near my expiration.

If you get it going early enough they stage it to be completed at or before your expiration.

There was quite a backlog for apps but it seems they're getting them on track now. I would still submit a renewal prior to 90 days out, just to make sure you get in the queue.

I unfortunately screwed up big time. I moved, and in the chaos of moving, I completely forgot my license was expiring. I sent in my stuff yesterday, but I have only a month til expiration. I don't mind if I have to go a couple months without a license, I'm just worried if it will count as a new application and I will have to go through all that nonsense again. Hopefully not, and I can just do my shooting qualification and be done with it.
