Looks like you must notify the Sheriffs office within 10 business days of moving by email: CCWNotifications@lasd.org

I've been on here for a while but never thought to check in and say "hello" in this specific thread. Glad to see I'm not the only one waiting for what feels like forever. I'm coming up on 2 years in a few days. Here's my current timeline:

? 7/20/22 - APPLICATION MAILED
? 7/21/22 - APPLICATION DELIVERED
? 4/02/24 - CCW UNIT INTERVIEW/DOCUMENT REQUEST; DOCUMENTS SENT; LIVESCAN COMPELTED
? 6/30/24 - TRAINING AUTHORIZATION EMAIL RECEIVED
? 7/04/24 - CCW CLASS SCHEDULED

Training completed and docs sent. We're in the 3-4 month home stretch, boys! ?

If I have a LAPD issued CCW, and move from LA County to Santa Monica, do I have to now apply for a CCW from the City of Santa Monica? Santa Monica has worse requirements and try to make it even more difficult to obtain a CCW. Thanks for any info.

Yes, as I understand it you will have to surrender your LAPD card and get one issued by Santa Monica.

This is one of the reasons I did not abandon my application with LASD. As long as I move anywhere in LA County, I just let LASD CCW unit know I moved and they update my info and issue a new card.

This is what comes up if you google this question but I would contact SMPD to verify. I'm actually glad I did not go through Santa monica for my CCW permit. I moved to Los Angeles before Santa Monica had their CCW process setup but I have followed the progress from the beginning.

I believe this pertains to being able to carry in Santa Monica with a CCW issued by another agency, not whether or not a CCW issued by another agency covers you if you change address to Santa Monica.
