A 16 month process, and just about two weeks away from my pick up date. Happy that I saw this through. On a side, but related note, does anyone have any statistics in terms of how many current CCW holders there are in LA County/what percentage of La County residents have a CCW? I want to feel special.

Considering it's nearly 10 million people in LA County, I don't believe there's more than 10000 current CCW holders in LA county (although there's about 10k apps in process currently), so the number is about 0.1%, but very likely lower than that percentage.

Quick update as I wait for my proceed to training email. You can see my complete timeline in signature below, but here is the latest:

Interviewed on 1/4/23, and assumed I'd get PTT within 60 days or so, but as of yesterday I'd received no communication. I sent an email through the 'Contact Us' section on LASD CCW website stating that it has been just over 90 days since interview, and asking if I have been approved for Firearms Training.

Received an email response today stating "Your file and live scan returns are pending review, we will contact you once completed."

Hopefully, this gets my file moving because based on others timelines, with similar interview dates, it seems like mine may have fallen in between the couch cushions, haha.

Anyway, training was completed in February so it's ready to send as soon as requested, but the waiting game continues.

The last numbers I recall seeing were that in 2018 there were about 194 CCWs in LA County with less than 5% (<10) non law enforcement. I don't remember where I saw that (maybe here lol). I asked the deputy how many there were when I picked mine up in January and she said about 3000. I'd be interested in hearing about any updated numbers.

Looks like your renewal took 6 months, did you apply for renewal early or did you have a period you couldnt carry??

New LiveScan Process

Does anyone know if the ccw unit gets notified when livescans are completed? With the updated literature on the LASD website, I went on and has my livescan completed with all sections cleared today. Should I reach out to the ccw email or will they already have notification?

Yeah they'll get it automatically. No need to check in with them. You'll just get an automated response. Good luck 👍🏽

8 Weeks yesterday for us. We are going the full 10. I doubt they will call us tomorrow, since it's Easter, but stranger things have happened in the world of the CCW Unit.

Yup I was thinking the same thing. Pretty bummed haven't seen anyone post pick up calls. Maybe 1 in the last couple weeks. I took my chick to pick hers up yesterday and she said there was a couple people picking up and some doing interviews a total of 6 people. Keep me updated if you hear from them. I'll do the same.

I wouldn't get too discouraged. The people on this thread are the minority. There are hundreds of other's getting pick up calls who aren't here to report. 😁
