They are still taking apps, but now ONLY for places that LAS services/has contracts with. So if you have a local PD, you must apply to them now. Anyone whole applied before 8/1/22 LASD is still processingLA CCW:

LA CCW process
I spoke with Deputy Kerr at the Santa Clarita sheriff station back around September 28th. At that time, he told me they were supposed to discourage applicants from applying through the Sheriff's department (since I live near LAPD Devonshire Division), but said that they would accept dropped off applications at their station. After I mailed my application to the Hall of Justice address, I found out that the LAPD actually finally decided on an application procedure. So for now, I'm just waiting it out to see if the sheriff's department cashes my check and gives me further instructions from there. Not to mention, the application with LASD is only $30 as opposed to LAPD which is $58. Final fee before pickup from the sheriff's department is $150, whereas the LAPD will charge $215.Comment

Did you get a call back? Missed mine last Saturday and never got a call back since then.Walked away from my phone for 2 minutes and missed the blocked unknown call, sigh. Was left a voicemail saying that they will call again the next time the are scheduling appointments for CCW pick up, no idea why they don't just do this step via email or have a number to call back. Horribly inefficient.
Going on 14 months since my initial application and glad the end is in sight.Comment

Going to try to send my app to LAPD tomorrow. Was thinking about applying for my wife, but she doesn’t have any firearms in her name. I can’t fill out the application and change the weapons listed during the interview stage can I? I’ll probably end up using myself as the trial and get her to buy something she’s comfortable with I guess. Who knows how long the LAPD process will take.Comment

Do you live in the city of Los Angeles? If so, unfortunately LASD is going to reject your application. Effective August 1st, LASD will not accept initial applications from applicants that do not live in LASD contract cities. Yeah. I did my training in August with a buddy of mine that received his email to begin training. He picked up his CCW at the end of August and he submitted his application a month before I did.
