Walked away from my phone for 2 minutes and missed the blocked unknown call, sigh. Was left a voicemail saying that they will call again the next time the are scheduling appointments for CCW pick up, no idea why they don't just do this step via email or have a number to call back. Horribly inefficient.

Going on 14 months since my initial application and glad the end is in sight.

I have two friends that applied in June of 2021 (on the same day). One of them picked up their CCW already this month. The other one got the email two weeks ago to begin training. I applied in July of 2021 and I am still waiting on the email to proceed to training.

This makes me think that applications are cut and divided like a stack of cards and handed over to different investigators. It could be that one investigator gets a pile of easy applications and just breezes through it, while the other investigator has a few in their pile that are tougher or take longer due to background issues, therefore creating a backlog on their end.

Good to know that they left a message! You may get a call on Monday or Tues, for Wed pickup, if not, then the next week. Seems to be the pattern.

From what I see the Unit is so overloaded it is in disarray. Supervision is either clueless or they don't care about the distribution of the workload. A good Supervisor would know the workload needs to be adjusted. The disparity in processing times started rearing it's ugly head back in February.
I own a business, if my supervisors hadn't taken action back when the issue first started, they wouldn't be around to be part of the solution.

Very true. What they need to do is start assigning civilian employees to help with processing the paperwork. I guarantee you that would relieve a lot of the backlog. Even something as simple as sending out the emails or gathering all documents from applicants. I want to say that other counties utilize civilian clerks for their ccw units to do just that.

lol they don't have much of a budget to work with since the county supervisors hates the sheriff

CCW Permits Process: Completing the Application All applicants will need to complete the California Department of Justice (DOJ) BOF 4012 application (see Hy ...

I did mail my application to lasd barely 6/3/22.
I know I got long wait ahead.

I was considering applying for covina pd. Since I am a resident but I feel like they have more requirements and much more fees as well. Only plus side would be shorter wait time to get ccw if approved than LASD.
