Yes, I suspect you squeaked through while there was still internal confusion about what the policy was. They pretend there have been no changes, but clearly there have been.

Either that or there was something unique about your app that satisfied them even though we classify it as LG.

I started working on my application, I made note that I used to have permits in NY and PA but it has been so long that I don't have the physical permits anymore and I don't recall the permit #s but I gave the agencies and the rough times of when I received the permits. As for GC what do you all think about this:

I am desiring a CCW license as my wife and I often take our three-year-old son out for walks and we occasionally go to the various parks nearby, however, there has been a marked increase in homeless in the area and I fear for our safety. Crime has gone up in the area with my wife's car being stolen from in front of our house on 17 September 2021. I served 21 years in the Army National Guard in combat roles and due to that my body is damaged, I have a bad back and I am unable to run very far or fast. My wife is also unable to run from danger due to multiple reconstructive surgeries to her back, ankles, and knees, she also suffers from asthma.

They can tell by my address that I live close to the riverbed area between Duarte and Azusa which has been a huge homeless encampment, should I mention that though? I would mention that I'm currently unemployed and in my job search I am traveling to various places all around LA County, some of which are rather unsafe, but that is hopefully only a temporary issue and that I'll be gainfully employed by the time my application is looked at.

The unemployed thing is going to be a problem. Your CCW permit will have your place of work, your position and company name. Hopefully you'll find some work by the time you interview, but walking your kid around the park with a bunch of homeless people is pretty weak.

I would apply now and hopefully your work has some GC merit to it.

Place of employment? Red and yellow work related GCs? What about the retired? Is this whole process ageist?

While LASO may consider that to be a problem, I see no reason why is HAS to be a problem just because the form and permit have those spaces. They could just be blank or filled with "none" or "N/A". Otherwise a retired person, or stay-at-home spouse could never get a permit regardless of cause such as verified death threats, etc.

Your plan is to shoot the homeless and/or someone stealing your car?
ATF Form 4473: If a frame or receiver can only be made into a long gun (rifle or shotgun), it is still a frame or receiver, not a handgun or long gun.

No man. Brandish my firearm and shoot in the air to scare them away from my kids.

                    duh.

Not everybody reading this knows you are our resident court jester. Best not to even joke about anything like that on a forum public forum, especially one read by LASO and likely eventually by Anti's who want to find any reason to discredit the whole process of CCW.

Historically, court jesters always ended up executed by the Kings for saying the wrong things. LOL

Especially, CA has all kinds of stupid laws including the red flag BS.
