If you travel inside the US but outside CA where you could use it, by all means go for the other permits, but I don't think it will have the slightest impact on your ability to get a CA Permit. Consider NV as well. I drove from Vegas to Arkansas, covered by my NV permit the whole way.
Here's the way I look at it. If you are applying for a CCW in California and never had a live scan, an out of state permit gives credibility, at least at the time of issuance you could pass a live scan. It can also show you may have experience carrying, depending on how long you've had the out of state permit and did carry where you were allowed. I believe this does shows the deputies, at least the one's willing to help, you are someone who at the very least can pass the live scan.GC LR

[QUOTE=aztecw;26222737]My interviewing deputy took a scan of my TX and AZ permits. But probably doesn't make a lick of difference.

[QUOTE=aztecw;26222737]You are partially correct. However, if you have FFL03 and COE, you already know that any livescan you do will come back clean. In addition, in my case, I've done couple of contracts at defense related companies, like Boeing, where also you would not be chosen without clean record
