If people read my CCW Application Advice thread pinned at the top of the forum they be a LOT better informed (and save me time correcting their mistakes). Until AV, LASD just did whatever the sheriff want, blowing off his own CCW policy.

                From post #14

Next, Corrupt Issue. LASD under Sheriff Jim McDonnell was like this per the CSA's report: 25 out of 25 audited files did not follow their own CCW policy re. residency and 24 out of 25 did not follow their own policy on GC. (See Calif State Auditor's report re. LA: 1 page Fact Sheet: http://www.auditor.ca.gov/pdfs/factsheets/2017-101.pdf Audit Summary: http://www.auditor.ca.gov/reports/2017-101/summary.html Full, 88 page report: http://www.auditor.ca.gov/pdfs/reports/2017-101.pdf

Having a part time business is tricky. As far as for GC, I think where they're giving you a hard time is on proving the value of the items you're transporting. Chances are the people in the CCW Unit are not computer people and have no idea on the value of the items you're dealing with. Without receipts showing that you're in possession of these items at any given time AND how much these items are actually worth, this is likely to be a sticking point when you try to make your case. You have to look at the questions and the type of documentation they're asking for so you can get an idea of where their mind is in terms of you GC. When they ask for certain things, it's probably a good indicator of where they feel you're coming up short.

I can state that, factually, a year ago nothing short of a dark red GC would have netted a permit. Maybe. I've applied two previous times using the same light red GC that was finally successful this time. On both previous attempts I was denied due to lack of GC. So there is no question that the standards were loosened.

But at this point it is still speculation LASD has backed away from accepting LG from solid candidates (i.e. read and followed my CCW Application Advice). Time will tell.
Paladin, sir, much respect. Your CCW Application Advice thread, your once frequent posts in this thread, and your posts in other threads with similar issuing situations to LA have been my bible for the past 2.5 years leading up to my application. I prepared by your word for a solid year leading up to applying.

I think this explains a great deal of the inconsistencies in my process (ie interview, eventual follow up/being told my GC is being approved, email response saying I will be contacted to schedule pickup of my license, then getting a denial letter).

Problem is not what I own, but for example, let's say you have an Falcon NW's gaming rig that costs over 10,000$ and you call me to fix/upgrade/whatever. I come over and pick it up to take to my place that's better equipped to work on something this complex. I do what you wanted me to do, and now I'm delivering it back to you. I don't have invoices/receipts from the PCs that I work on for my clients, best I can do is print out, for example (in this case) Falcon's site's default model prices and show them.

That's not taking into account that couple of times I worked on fully loaded Z6 workstations from HP - prices there get REALLY ugly - memory itself can go over 700Gb with price of almost 20K

LA has improved, but based on what I'm hearing here, it's a "yellow" county not a green.

For those who got denied: this month SCOTUS will most likely decide whether to take the Russell (CCW) and/or Young (OC) carry cases. Then on Nov 03 they will hear oral arguments in NYSRPA (CCW) carry case. Big changes MAY be coming before next Independence Day.
