LiveScan would be an issue if you are denied for GMC, but he, just like me, was denied for GC. In my case, since I have a COE, I know that my background check is clean

One more post. I spoke with the Deputy who was processing the permit pick up and they confirmed they do read some posts on here and since my username was easy to match to my name (oops lol) they wanted to reiterate some things.
1. EVERYONE gets an interview and Livescan.
2. The Lieutenant is the SAME one for the last 6+ months. Nothing has changed in the process approval/denial wise.
3. There are 8-9 on the CCW unit currently
4. They are looking at Permitium for an online system which is the same one OC and other counties use.
5. No deputy should be telling you to do training during the interview.
6. If you were denied, your Livescan could have turned up something you don't remember. Ie. Driving with no license or suspended license is a misdemeanor and shows up as an arrest because the ticket is the "arrest". So if you left a ticket out that could have been factor, etc.

Be patient with them as only 2 people respond to emails usually . Anyways, good luck everyone

If something you're unaware of turned up in your livescan and caused your denial, the reason given on your denial letter will be due to GMC fail and not GC. Seaweed and Lrd were both denied on GC. Chances are either their documentation or something they said during the interview caused the CCW Unit to question the strength of their GC reasoning.

One last thing (seriously this time haha) the deputy told me they do NOT go by a "colored" map or colors. There is no green, yellow, etc. so that map is useless.

The application asks for tickets in the last 5 years and all arrests. I can't imagine anyone outside of the legal system would consider a traffic ticket given at roadside with no cuffs, Miranda warning, and no physical removal from the scene to be an arrest, regardless of the offense on the ticket. If I had a 10 year old ticket for driving on a suspended license, it would not occur to me to include it in either section. This needs to be added to the list of questions to ask AV the next time somebody has an opportunity.

Rpak, can you give us any more detail or clarification on your conversation on this point?

I am reiterating what they said almost word for word. I guess if you really want clarification on the example they gave me you can ask a LASD Deputy or someone who knows the laws because I obviously have no idea.
