It was specifically a fix-it ticket that I forgot to take care of, that resulted in suspension of my license in 2016. He said they're looking for folks who stay on top of things and not let legal matters lapse like that.

He didn't seem to be bothered by the other 2 tickets (running a red light camera & not completing right turn in the right lane) in 2019, once I explained the circumstances.

Imho, I think as long as it's not a DUI or similar reckless driving, you should be ok.

Oh ok, that sounds just like what I was hoping they'd be focused on. I only have a couple of red light camera tickets and making a right turn on a red light arrow.

My interviewing deputy summarized the 3 possible outcomes for me after the interview and given the livescan form:

1. CCW Unit head has more questions or needs more documentation to substantiate my GC, before making final decision.

2. Livescan clears and CCW Unit head approves GC and I am told to proceed to training.

3. CCW Unit head does not approve GC, and I will be mailed a denial letter.

While it is a positive sign if the interviewing deputy thinks your GC is good enough, for you to proceed with livescan, they are not the final authority in approving your GC. Even my deputy cautioned some traffic tickets I got could hurt my chances regarding my permit being approved, but still encouraged me to get the livescan done.

Do we have an example of a denial letter yet? (in the time since the permit policy got more reasonable I mean.) Haven't seen one on here since I started following the thread in May or so.

Either people on here are too embarrassed to say they got a denial, or LASD has not mailed any of them yet. I'm sure the approval rate is much higher among better-informed CalGunners than among the general public, but still, we should have some denials by now on here no?

If I get denied, I'll absolutely let you guys know lol. Sad Boys club life member.

No but it looks like if they tell you to do the training, you should be good to go. Unless you somehow dont pass that.

I do recall one guy posting how the interviewer would follow up to do the live scan which is odd.
