16th in Chatsworth. About 3 miles from my home. Couldn't be more perfect. My buddy interviewed last week with the same Deputy. Said the guy was very cool.

I wish today's liberals could understand: You cannot be generous by giving away other peoples' money and you cannot demonstrate your virtue by your willingness to give up other peoples' rights.

The more time I spend on this forum, the more sense kcbrown makes.

I live in Woodland Hills and also hoped for the Chatsworth interview. However, mine was yesterday in Whittier. The Deputy was very friendly, helpful and encouraging. I brought the necessary documents to support my good cause, photos from camping trips, spreadsheet of gun values, photos of the guns so he would know they were not imaginary and originals and copies of the required credentials including my Utah CCW. Showed but did not leave copies of my medical records documenting my orthopedic limitations. Since the competition guns were expensive, he said his supervisor would appreciate seeing copies of the receipts for one or two of the guns and their accessories. Compiled that last night in two PDFs that were emailed to him. He also said to go ahead with LiveScan. I asked about training, too. He was not wed to the one step at a time attitude some have demonstrated. Since I serve on the medical safety team at my church, the MedicUp training would be relevant regardless.

Now about Chatsworth versus Whittier…. It took 90 minutes to get there for the 10:00 appointment. Coming home was another story. Just over two hours because a big rig on its side right blocked the northbound 5 FWY at the 134 junction. All five lanes were funneled off the eastbound 134 exit. The radio reported all surface streets were jammed and recommended taking the 134 east to the 210, north to the 118, west to the 405, south to the 101 and west to Woodland Hills. I opted to use the first exit to turn around to the 134 west to 5 south to Los Feliz to the 101 and home. Arrived wiped out. Three and half hours of LA freeway traffic in one half day. But it was all for “good cause”

Has anyone gone through all the steps as requested by LASD (interview, LiveScan, firearms training/qualifying), received the final canned “You will be contacted when your file has been approved and we are ready to issue your license,” and then been denied? Just wondering if the wait is administrative or if additional review is conducted for sign-off.

So I hand delivered my application to the local W. Hollywood Sheriff's station yesterday. I guess now the waiting begins. I noticed there was no place on the application for my e-mail address. Do they usually call to setup an interview, if one is even granted? And I know it's everyone's guess, but typically how long before I hear anything from anyone? I'm a newbie here and doing my best to navigate through tons of great info. Thank you all.

Check out people's signatures like mine to see how inconsistent the process is for many. And with the word out that people are actually getting their CCW's, there's been a significant ramp-up of new applications which will most certainly impact the process times.

If I recall, I was called first and the deputy took my email address to confirm my interview date. All further communications have been sent to that email address.

                        THIS!!

Send it certified mail to the address given on the website. Any other approach will not be confirmed received or successful until the check is cashed. And delivery elsewhere is dependent on the LASD interdepartmental mail system.

The links in the chain here are tenuous.

I sent supplementary documentation by certified mail in mid July that was received at the specified CCW Unit address, yet that material never made it to my file as of my interview yesterday.

Streamline the process by elminating as many steps or fallible human beings as possible. I learned it would have been better to submit everything at the beginning instead of trying to catch up later.

When they called for the interview, the deputy asked for an email to send instructions to. Not to worry, the interview setup is a phone call.

Return from DOJ is what's causing most of the holdup (I'm assuming being short-staffed is too)

He says he wants to get it to a 60 day process.

He answered my question about civilians volunteering, but as some said on here, it's a matter of security and privacy, so we can't be allowed to help.

Did I miss something important about CCW?
