Got my interview call today, scheduled for thurday.

Light green GC (Recreational shooting). Deputy was very nice on the phone, seemed to want to help me get my papers in order. Requested a print out of the total cost of my firearms as additional supporting documents.

Nice to see people getting calls for early April apps.

Ah, a subject near and dear to my heart.

Renewal is 2 years based on State law. Based on what I have seen elsewhere, your GC will be judged again against whatever standards are in place at that time, but if nothing has changed in the standards, and your GC remains, expect re-approval.

It seemed as if the San Diego Sheriff got caught a bit by surprise, by what happened when his first big batch of permits came due for renewal. It looked like they prioritized renewals over new applications, which I think is the right answer, but new approvals slowed considerably. Hopefully, AV will be better prepared for this and will increase his resources or efficiency of the process before then. As the time approaches, look for guidance on renewals on the website, but most places seem to start the renewal window at 120 days before expiration.

The math says if his system can process X renewals per month, the total number of outstanding permits can never exceed 24X because at that point all available resources are used just to process renewals and no new applications can be processed. Let that sink in.

Yeah website said is 60 days before expiration. I know we still got 2 years but I just wanna get ahead of time before the 2 year come. The more you know the better lol

I shoot competitively so I have a similar GC. I plan on bringing my membership card to the gun club I belong to as well as printed lists of all the matches I've attended in the last 2 years and a few other things as well.
