Just to be clear: you are an employee and not an owner of the business you work for, correct?

Correct - an employee of a large business.

For all: at Yellow level some of us law-abiding gun owners can get CCWs. So why celebrate? Because every color improvement gets us that much closer to Green. If LASD is Yellow now, that means when those ill advised Measure J Reimagine Policing cuts come in July, if AV liberalizes GC even more that will take LA Co to at least Light Green, issuing for recreational activities risks where most of us could get issued.

Less than 5 months to go!

I've read through this whole thread but unsure if one needs to apply through lapd first and get a denial before going to lasd? I live in an lapd jurisdiction.

              You do.

There's a live community conversation with Sheriff Villanueva this afternoon. You can join online here: https://tinyurl.com/y5wurwas. FYI, Webex is free to use. The event starts at 2 PM.

If you have time and want to listen to see if he has discussions about CCW, I would encourage you to join online.

So I live in Manhattan Beach which has its own PD. Do I need to apply with them first before going to LASD? MBPD doesn't have anything on CCW on their website and I'm reluctant to call them to ask. Thoughts?

You will need to contact MBPD and apply. Don't be afraid to call them up. Here are the list of cities that have an agreement with the sheriff and you can skip the city. Manhattan isn't on the list, and it has a PD, so I conclude that you must apply with them first.

Even if they have no info on their website, they have an application process. Who knows, they might even issue. Put in a serious app to them and see what happens. If you do get issued by MBPD instead of the sheriff, you probably have some minor advantages vs the LA CCW.

                          Any mention of CCW today?

Chad you do have some chance of getting issued by LA Sheriff. Go in with a positive attitude, read or re-read the advice in this rather long thread, and give it your best and it may work. The bad old days of Sheriff Baca are gone. Key is to have a positive attitude because the new sheriff wants to help, he just wants the right people with the right attitude. I would start by deleting the blog. That blog made sense in an earlier, more corrupt, and more adversarial time, but that's not now. Things really are different.
