by and chance do you have a window of after live scan clears when you can have a permit issued ? assuming live scan comes back clear.

Your gun selection is finalized when you do your training. Whatever is on your training sheet is what goes on your permit. They must all be registered to you.

The whole process looks like it is running about 10 months from start to finish. I don't think LiveScan is the pacing factor in most cases unless you wait until every other step is done. Most people get theirs done earlier in the process.

i applied back in june 2021. got my interview done feb 9th and started live scan the same day. im still waiting on the firearms portion to clear. i did the firearms training just to have to ready once i get an email for training. i know im clean for my live scan part just wondering why its taking soo long and i did something wrong.

It's crazy, if you go back to the forum you will notice that there were people having their livescan clearing in a few days to a week. You haven't done anything wrong.

If your other portions have cleared that means that you are good to go and it is just a waiting game.

Well, I doubt there is anything you could have done wrong. Livescans are just taking a long time at this point.

Yes, just email the unit and let them know.

Not sure if this guy is on here (doubt it, otherwise I think he would have had this info already), but just had an exchange with a redditor who appears to have gotten the go ahead for training and is waiting for the call to pick up based on an apparent light/dark green good cause. I’m baffled at the moment. Pasting the comms below –

Hello. Got the call to set up my initial interview today and was asked to take crimemaps and stats. Is there a specific site/source I should be using? Any recommendations are appreciated.

For those who will ask, my timelines so far are as follows:
06/03/21 - Sent Application
06/25/21 - Check Cashed
01/04/21 - Received call to schedule initial interview.

I asked what his good cause was and he replied:
I went with riding my road bike on the riverbed trail and the dangers associated with it since the GC color is aimed at recreational activities. I also mentioned a few other crime increase issues in my area. The Deputy didn't seem too interested in the recreational/biking info, and seemed to ask for further information on the crime increase in my area (due to a hotel being used to house the homeless nearby).

Fast forward to today, he posts:

Two questions for those who have recently been approved for an LA County CCW.

1. Do they come with a picture of you? If so, how or what picture do they use? I ask because I thought I read somewhere that they were a photo ID, but I don't remember submitting a picture of myself.

2. Once you've turned in your firearms training, how long before you received your CCW and how? I submitted mine 03/02/22, and haven't heard a peep from the CCW unit. I've read some scheduling pickup and others it was mailed.

I'd ask my IA, but the last few times I've communicated I received some very dry "don't call us, we'll call you/stop bugging and wait" responses.

You got the go-ahead for training from a GC based on crime stats in your area?

Or did your good cause change to something work-related since you last posted?

They take your photo when you pick up and seems like averaging 4-6 weeks from training submission to contact for pickup

Yup, got the go ahead email on 03/02 and sent it in within 5 minutes since I had already completed the class.

My GC was related to area crime stats. Didn't have to change to work related.

So they schedule pickup of the CCW, you go in, they take your picture and hand you the CCW dame day?

This is really wild. There have been a ton of light green/recreational good cause denials in the last few recent weeks. Did you just claim you’re at higher risk because you live in the area or was there some specific activity that you do aside from living in the area that you mentioned? Really trying to wrap my head around this.

My GC was primarily related to bicycling the riverbed due to the light green/recreational status when I applied. I did mention in there that I live by a project room key hotel, and my IA seemed to really concentrate all the attention on that over the recreational portion.
