Do you guys think renewals will be easy once we get our initial permit?

I like it, already planning ahead. A lot will depend on who the Sheriff is at the time...

Well, at first blush there's good news and bad news.

Good news: By the time any recent permittees are ready to renew, I fully expect SCOTUS will have ruled that any kind of subjective GC requirement is unconstitutional, so that will alleviate the time and effort required to validate and evaluate GC statements.

Bad News: There will be an absolute flood of new applicants that will completely overwhelm LASO's existing systems.

It would not surprise me at all that SCOTUS takes it a step further and rules that states must permit at least one form of carry with no permit at all. (For instance NV requires a permit for concealed carry but none for open carry.) it is less clear how that would play out in CA.
I wish today's liberals could understand: You cannot be generous by giving away other peoples' money and you cannot demonstrate your virtue by your willingness to give up other peoples' rights.

If SCOTUS rules in our favor, then all the local police departments will require to issue CCW permits in their own cities as well. Therefore LASD will unload other cities applications to focus on LACO residents only.

If we get a ruling in our favor, I think the STATE will have to figure out how to comply. I don't see any particular reason that they will then require cities to issue individually. They might, but I doubt it for a variety of reasons. Actually, if you take out the subjective tests like GMC and GC, there is no logical reason it would have to be done by law enforcement at all. It could be done at the DMV. Heck, it could actually just be a field on your actual DL like the organ donor designation, no need for a separate card at all, but I doubt that would happen either. It would make too much sense.

                          Torrance resident

Hi folks. I'm a Torrance resident. I found some inference posted that Torrance residents have to go thru the TPD. Is this accurate or can I go directly thru the LASD?

Anyone that resides in LA County can now apply directly to LASD.

If I were on the Supreme Court, I would rule:
                              1. NY (and every other state) that has a "good cause" requirement must accept "exercise of my fundamental right to self defense" as sufficient good cause and issue a CCW permit.
                              2. Every state west of the Mississippi River is part of the Old West, and for reasons of history and tradition, must permit open carry of a pair of Single-Action Army revolvers in an Old West-style double holster.
                              3. Bartenders can require open carriers to hand over their guns at the bar until they leave.
                              4. Bartenders must keep a side-by-side shotgun behind the bar.
                              5. Bars must have dancing girls in Can-Can costumes sitting and talking to bar customers.
                              6. At least once per hour, the girls must all get up on the bar and do a Can-Can dance.
