Strange. I thought these were speeding up. I submitted my livescan on June 16, and the firearms was done by June 20. Maybe they made efforts to clear the big backlog but it's gradually getting bogged down again.

While it think the rules above could be much more clearly worded, I didn't see any requirement there that says you have to proactively inform the officer upon contact even if you are carrying, let alone if you are not.

If elected as Sheriff, I will have the authority to issue Carrying a Concealed Weapon (CCW) permits to citizens who can show good cause. I believe that if a law-abiding person is seeking a permit, can show proof of residence, has passed the background check and attended the proper training classes, then he or she should be granted one in a timely manner.

That sounds like he will accept "self defense" as GC, which is functionally equivalent to "Shall Issue". What a huge step forward! This may cause AV to match his position.

It would be VERY useful to get him to define "timely manner" because timing is a loophole that many agencies will use to effectively deny us our rights if the SC gives us something like Shall Issue in the NYSRPA case. IF the SC does not include a time limit like 90 or 120 days, recalcitrant agencies will claim they are complying and issuing, but they will establish a process that is so crippled that the wait for approval will stretch into years. As often quoted, "a right delayed is a right denied"

Idk... he also stated he was going to be in full compliance and transparency with the BOS. I do believe the BOS don't want the sherriff to issue ccw's. But definitely wanna know more about him and what he considers "good enough" gc.

Yeah...**** that. I'm not risking it..

AV is already issuing, this guy says he will issue if elected.

Why give a chance to the new guy if the current guy is already doing it.

Just risk Eli going back on his word. High/Low Risk for literally...no reward.

Does anybody know which came first, AV's loosening or Vera's announcement? I wonder if one was a reaction to the other.
