To me it only shows significant disorganization in the CCW unit; that one can have such drastically differences in experience from applicant to applicant.

I do appreciate the professionalism they showed for the one time I called about 4 weeks ago, and I know they have a crap load of applications to get through with limited budget; but to date I have received no proactive status updates, no completion estimation time, or even info on how they are going to improve their response times. Taking over one year from start to finish is not acceptable, and given their silence only makes it that much more of a rub.

In my line of work, I would be fired for what they have delivered (i.e. "not delivered") to date.

Guess when you have a monopoly on CCWs you can get away with this; and its not lost on me my whining truly means nothing because of their monopoly. =)

Sorry to rant. Back to being the little guy.

Really hoping things speed up soon though.

We won't be able to carry by the time we get our CCW. Doh! I know things will be sorted out in court but who knows how long that will take. I was really hoping to get a Interview call in May but it still hasn't happened.
I already did my Live Scan and Training. Just waiting for the Interview.
    7/18/22 - Mailed Application
    10/14/22 - Money Order Cashed
2/6/24 - Call from CCW Unit to obtain email. Email received and documents sent
    3/20/24 - Interview by phone
5/15/24 - Received 'Proceed To Training' Email
    5/15/24 - Sent training documents
    8/13/24 - picked up CCW - FINALLY!!!

With SB2 speeding it?s way through Sacramento, I fear this will be the case for quite some time as well. Hopefully we can get some injunctive relief.

Maybe we might bump into each other when we do get a call for the interview. They are finally in September so 2 more months til November queue.

I think the person I handed my appl and money order to at the sheriff station just threw it away.

Are all CCW licenses picked up at the Sherman Block building in Monterey Park? Or are there other sites?

I turned in my appl. in June of 2022. Like a lot of you.

June 2022 applicants got interview calls in January and February. I got nothing.

I got two of those emails: "Your application has been received..." but no calls.

Is there any way to find out the truth here? I feel like I'm being lied to.
I submitted on June 28, 2022 and didn?t receive my interview until June 2023. So each person has a different timeline for what ever reason. Those that?s submitted same time as me and got called in Jan/feb are the lucky ones. Heck my money order didn?t get cashed until Feb 2023.

Oof, multiple people have claimed handing it in at a Sheriff station is the slowest way to get it into the queue.

Have you called and asked about when or if your application was received downtown?

One thing I`ve thought of is California is still a May Issue state. If it was Shall Issue, the timelines would be cut and dry. The issuing agencies still have to deal with Good Moral Character investigations. Some people will have more come up during investigations. Common names will get false positives as well that need to be verified.

I talked to a rep at the station a little while ago, who told me they were "six months behind". I got two of those "Your application has been received..." email responses. I tried calling once, and the number on the website did not work.
