I would stay anonymous. I wouldn't put it past them being petty and delaying your application if they get your name.

In his words: "I could envision starting out a story with such a person -- describing their frustration, their wait, etc. It's just a radically different situation than the one we have over here in Georgia & elsewhere."

If anyone is comfortable speaking with him, go ahead and email me at kmoros@michellawyers.com.

I totally get if nobody is interested in talking to reporters, but I told him I'd at least pass the message along. I think more attention on this issue would be great. He didn't strike me as wanting to write a hit piece, as he kept mentioning how what these cities/counties were doing seems to be in defiance of Bruen.
Maybe someone that's already picked their permit up would be a good choice. I personally and everyone else here who still hasn't picked up I know have been waiting. so far the process is taking 13-17 months I haven't seen the 6 month mark been met since 2021. I follow you on Twitter too I asked about the letter yall sent out to which you replied they have till next week.

Thanks for fighting for CA! 💪🏽🇺🇸

I would say this is LASD trying to be proactive and lower total overall wait times from submitting application to issuing. To me this is a good sign.

Sounds promising, I've never seen them reach out and tell someone to do the livescan before you get to your interview. Most of us did that anyways before our interview seems like. I know Kostas Moros and his firm sent out a letter a couple weeks back letting them know that they needed to speed up the process. Only time will tell.

They did start including requirement for livescan with the interview email, mine said to have it done prior to the scheduled day

Did I misread the original post? They called him to do livescan before assigning to a deputy? Or did they call him to schedule an interview and told him to have his livescan done prior to the interview?

So I just called back today thinking that I would be getting the email on how to complete the livescan from yesterday's call, but turns out they said they will email the information on that within the next few weeks... This is getting more strange.

03/30/2023: Received call to schedule for interview

Maybe you've been assigned to someone new to the process. Could be an indicator that they are adding more people to processing.

I see this change in procedure--live scan before interview--as a good thing. This could help speed up the process and weed out those ineligible for CCW up front.

Agreed. The real purpose of the interview was for good cause, which was why they held livescan until after. Over a year later they are finally adjusting the process to reality. The "interview" is still pointless and should be optional, if they have questions about your application. But it's a start.

Just an FYI for those who already have their permits and may be due for renewal soon. LASD's website advices that one should apply for renewal 3 months before expiration, however after hearing about delays I submitted my renewal 6 months in advance. My permit expires on 5/3/23 and I submitted my renewal app at the beginning of November. I just received an email today to submit a utility bill and that I will be getting a phone interview tomorrow. So total processing time was a little over 4 months.

Thanks man. Feel kind of lucky that I caught the call. Phone was on silent on the kitchen counter, and luckily I was walking right by as it started to vibrate.
