Renewals are still eight hours. I would go with the sheriff's recommendation on the renewal period, which last time I checked was three months out (unless they change(d) that).

      Permitium website says

"If the applicant is RENEWING a Concealed Carry Weapon license in San Mateo County, they may not apply until 120 days before the expiration date listed on their current Concealed Carry Weapon license." (emphasis mine)

Is there anywhere you can check on the status of the process? I applied in Feb 2023 and have not heard a peep. Haven’t heard if I passed the background check, nothing.

An update on my CCW process.

            01/01/23: Submitted application
            04/26/23: Livescan complete
            12/13/23: Interview
            01/10/24: Psych Exam

The examination consists of three parts. The initial section must be finished before your scheduled appointment and took approximately one hour.

The second part, comprising 335 multiple-choice questions, took an hour and fifteen minutes for me to complete.
Subsequently, a face-to-face evaluation with the doctor follows based on how your answers, concluding the entire process. The second part and doctor followup took up the entire two hours.

The questions are mainly about yourself. Nothing like SAT or GMAT. The doctor said he will send his certificate back (unsure what that means), will wait and see.

The count of days so far is 374. Hope this help everyone.

Hi folks, after the Psych Evaluation, how long did you wait for the next step?

I did mine on Dec 6, 2023, haven't heard back anything until today.

Last reply was "Application is still be reviewed. It will go to the Sheriff after it's been reviewed" on late Dec.

                TIA!

According to the thread posted by skschow above, there is a 90-days period between his psychological evaluation and the approval of the application.

First application attempt. I submitted my Livescan application per email instructions from sheriff's office. Wondering when the ATI# comes and in what format - mail, electronic? Or am I just waiting for a phone call from background investigator?

"Print and complete the highlighted sections of the attached Livescan form. Please take this form with you to Pack and Mail Express, the only approved Livescan vendor located at 1017 El Camino Real, Redwood City, 94063 (650-365-2892). Livescan printing is conducted on a walk-in basis. The average print return takes approximately sixty (60) days to complete.

Once you complete the Livescan, you will receive an ATI#; please email us the number so we can properly track the progress of your application.

A background investigator will contact you to schedule an appointment for an in-person interview. "

When I went to Pack and Mail with the live scan form, they completed the bottom section and that included the ATI#. Pack and Mail provides you the ATI#. Additionally, I just did a COE live scan in November there and also got the ATI# on the bottom of the paper form I brought them.

                            Thermapen,

The person in Pack and Mail handling the scanning process should have recorded/gave the ATI number for you. You can verify the status of your application by visiting this link: https://applicantstatus.doj.ca.gov/

Bummer. I checked on Permitium and it says they're working on my order. But there's no way I know if my Livescan is submitted aside from having an ATI number, eh?
