I believe you have 90 days from the date you received your approval, to submit your completed training cert. Get on your instructor, it's really easy for them and I don't know what excuse other than they forgot about you that would be acceptable after a week.

For the future, I really can't speak highly enough about David Premetz over at Escondido Fish and Game Association (a private range by lake wolford). I got a new pistol today and he responded to my email with like "any time 26, 27,28,29,30, you just tell me when, and we'll meet there and you can qualify for it, $25". I think he is a vietnam vet that is of course retired, and doesn't really care about the $ for CCW, but just wants more ppl to have them, so makes himself available whenever. He sent me my CCW form the day I took the class via email (PDF) but had a hard copy for me when I showed up (pre-printed) but had to modify since I didn't want one pistol on it. Anyhow just sayin'

Ok, that's a little weird. You should have got the certificate at the end of class. And you may want to rethink where you take your class in the future. There's no reason it can't be given out at the end of class.

Yep, definitely not using them again. I sent a text, said it was delivered but didn’t read it haha. Hope I didn’t just lose my $200. Smh

Got my license in the mail Wednesday. Yeah.
As a side note did my class at PWG. Very well done. Not a sleeper. Great info and David Bucsit was terrific. I highly recommend.

Delivered? Texted or emailed to you on the day you passed?

There's absolutely no way I'd pay AGAIN for a class I just completed. Call the sheriffs office and tell them the predicament you're in. Maybe you're not the first. Maybe they'll light a fire under......

                          Maybe the instructor croaked?

I'd def put them on blast......

^^^^ This. Not at $200 a class. Also out the instructor/class so nobody else gets screwed by this guy. There's no earthly reason why the certificate shouldn't have been issued at the end of class.

This guys name is Shane from Defensive Tactics and Firearms. I even contacted a person that used to be an instructor there, and said he would look into it. It’s been a day and still haven’t heard anything. He said he might be busy since he’s the only one that issues the certificate’s. But still, give a courtesy text or email stating that you are backed up and working on it. Not leaving someone high and dry without any feedback.

I’m sure someone here has taken their course. I’ve heard good things about them that’s why I took it. Also, they provided the online 8 hour course, I guess that’s what happens when I try to get away from sitting in a class for 8 hours.

I’ll be taking a new class with Peter. $350 for a CCW certificate smh

My son and I along with a friend just finished up with DTF, Shane is a decent guy however.... yes he does not respond to texts, vmails and is very slow to respond to email. Took me 5 days to get a call back when he didn't deliver my AZ cert along with a request to update my CA cert.

Now to be fair, he has been down very hard with covid, didn't bounce back very well apparently.

My recommendation is to not give up on him but do keep after him

Might also try reaching out to Morgan at DTF, morgan@defensivetacticsandfirearms.com

BTW, every phone option within DTF goes to Shane's vmail

And lastly, their hybrid course (self paced, online) ends 12/31/22 per the SD Sheriff, they must go back to 8 hours in person. If you have a class signed up in Jan... per Shane it won't by hybrid. They haven't updated their website yet to reflect the change.
